Forest Bandit Hideouts way unbalanced!

Funny how battles are very easy yet bandits camps are very hard ? I tried the shield wall for HI .. and it kinda worked, all arrows went into the shields ???????????????? open lower body and legs never hit ?????????????????? I still lost.

Whenever a weird situation arises, I ask "what actually happened in history" ? "what's (was) reality" ? I think in history, if you're attacking a secure enemy camp @ night with 50 resting enemies, you'd want at lest 40 elite men, and to attack very quickly and silently. (no shield walls).

Maybe it is just me but i prefer forest bandits over others that rush you with throwing spears and shields because you can easy kill them with 1 headshot and manage line of sight with trees not to get overwhelmed.

However! i can agree than 10 person limit is not appropriate. What if we would get 3 different "sizes" of hideouts with different troop limits?
1. Small hideout - up to 20 bandits - you get 10 troops
2. Medium Hideout - Up to 35 bandints - you get 20 troops
3. Large Hideout - up to 50-60 bandits (i would hardcap this) - you get 30

This way we are still challenged due to lower troop count but we don't get late game examples where hideout would be 80+ and we are supposed to clear with 10 soldiers. (lets be honest 90% of the people already play around that with mods, and there is a reason for that)

I don't know how often this kind of situations happened in history but i know for sure that noone .. ever .. would do it like in Bannerlord. The only reason why someone would just go with 8 guys against 40+ is if those 40 were sleeping(with maybe a few guards that need to be taken care of quietly). And for sure they would bring the others from their band to be in close proximity and help if things went south. However during bandit camps they aren't sleeping.. they are fully armed and armored..

The conceit is stated in text at some point, that are larger group would be noticed by the bandits and they would clear out rather then wait around to get beaten up by an army. So you take a small crack team that can sneak in undetected under cover of darkness.

Not saying I like the way it plays, or that I buy the justification for the mechanic, just saying that a justification is provided.

Interesting - With Buccelari and Mamelukes on top of the list I get them always in my group + whatever companions I have in main party. If I've got most of my cav wounded and dozens of fresh recruits - sometimes one of those will make the cut.

That said, archery being OP cuts both ways. Note that due to mistake in putting Crossbowmen on top, the boss fight immediately devolved into 1v3 shootout with a Forest bandit and 2 freebooters, still doable at blank point with good strafing.

For most fights, the only way I'm losing troops before final fight is because the damn lemmings keep getting directly in front of me as I release the arrow, as I have enough trouble timing it all to enemy (F3-F3 at start, carefully Hold Fire to avoid pulling large groups, strafe always with exception of exact moment of releasing an arrow, use trees for cover for yourself, put troops off to the side to pull inefficient arrow fire while you headshot bandits one by one).

If you could bring all your troops in to these fights, there would be no challenge in it. As it is, these hideouts are sort of a "minigame".

You can think about it this way: you bring only couple of your most trusted guys with you because bringing whole army would alert the bandits.

I saw a hideout with 47, 8, 9, 4 and last night. That'd be okay if I could take my entire force in.

If a hideout has more than 35 in it, then player can use entire force. Would be fun.

... and so what if we alert the bandits? They might get away? Nah, not from me no sir.

First, it's not a minigame, it's a slog. The only "game" in it is if you get the units you want with you or not.
If you don't use a bow, camps become 10times harder.
If you use full damage on you and your guys, most of them most likely won't survive a big camp.
Usually at least half of the camp gets alerted, why don't they run at that point?
Why don't they just run(like spawning an army and running from you) as opposed to just dissapearing?
Why are all bandits fully equipped? Shouldn't the point of attacking at night be that some of them are sleeping? Are they sleeping in full armour?
If not, why just not attack at any point of the day.

Forest bandits are the only hideout where I'm going wathever the number of ennemies...

Take a bow, shield wall with ur units to protect you, shoot the bandits, pick their arrows and go to the next spot...

This is the easiest hideout.
In every other ennemies are charging and can OS everyone with javelins.

About mountain and sea raider's hidout... I clean it in 3, 4 or 5 days because it's impossible to kill more than 30 of them with your poor 8 companions...

Desert bandit hideouts, ugh..

It's not.

If you don't like challenge then why play this game to begin with?

If you don't use a bow, camps become 10times harder.

So use bow if that's the way you are sucessful. To each his own.

If you use full damage on you and your guys, most of them most likely won't survive a big camp.

Cos at that point it's just you and few other guys.

They don't dissapear.

Why are all bandits fully equipped?

In case you attack them.

Shouldn't the point of attacking at night be that some of them are sleeping?

Point of attacking at night is to not get spooted on the way in.

Are they sleeping in full armour?

Why are you as a player newer sleeping?

If not, why just not attack at any point of the day.

See my point above.

It's a game, bandits also newer eat, newer piss, don't wash themselves, don't get ill, have fires but newer cut trees and prepare firewood and you newer going to see them eat either. Give it some slack.
