Forest Bandit Hideouts way unbalanced!

There's no reason why I should be up against 20+ forest bandits who kill my meager 8 soldiers before they can even get to the first hill. This is way unbalanced and I can't complete a quest because of it. It's absurd that I have an army of 90+ but I only get to take my weakest 8 soldiers into a fight against 20+ forest bandits who kill everyone from range before we're halfway to them.

welcome to the crew my man you will be in hell until they fix forest bandits and to me seemingly archery in general

No doubt. Seems not only are the hideouts way overpopulated, every single one of them is a super-sniper. lol

All hideouts are like this currently. My ONLY solution to the forest guys was to wait around until all/most of their dudes left and then attack, but that could take up to a week as they rarely leave once they're there.

IMO the more they have in their hideout the more you should be able to take, plus perhaps the ability to pick the party beforehand (so we can stop bringing in heroes into high risk matches)

That's not a bad idea. I don't have a problem with any of them so far but the Forest Bandit Hideouts. Especially since they're out in the open. I've fought with a full army in and around heavily wooded villages. I see no reason why the hideouts should be any different. Especially the forest ones. They're more open than some of the maps I've already fought on. We should be able to take a much larger party than just 8 people. That's absurd, or drastically limit the number of bandits a camp has.

I had 121 troops, mostly Vlandian swordsman and crossbow men, and tried to wipe out the mountain bandit hideout for the main quest but no matter how many times I tried I only get to bring my weakling heroes and a handful of recruits. This makes absolutely no lick of sense.

I did a bunch of tests, it seems to pick whichever companions you have, and only some of the troops you place high in the order. I had 6 Crossbowman, 4 Veteran ones and 3 Levy ones, it picked a few from each, and a cavalry guy that was lower.

Still, I'm equipping my companions with bows, and I have one myself, so it's not that hard if you go slow (press f4 to hold fire so that they don't aggro, and press f4 again when enemies are in range).

Remember to go around the camps, and try to be higher and in a better position overall than the bandits.

I had all of my low and weak troops at the bottom of my troop order, all of my fully upgraded units up top, still chose to bring my small band of recruits instead of the ones who are capable of defending themselves from an army of aim bot archers.

In real life archers made up about 3/4ths of medieval armies, the large majority were archers simply because it was the most effective way to do things.

Most people with swords and armor were nobles.

It's a Hideout, if you attack when all of them are inside... I dont know why people complaints. You just to wait the exact moment to attack.

Because it makes zero sense than you can't bring your entire force? Or at least a larger portion. From what I've read the current strat is to just go in solo, kill a few with your bow then leave and repeat til you solo them all.

The vets should know this from previous games but click and drag higher tier troops and move them to the top of your army queue. That way, they'll be the 9 that go with you. It may help some who stink like me and play it on easiest level

I play with all settings on realistic, and like I said above I already moved my troop tree around accordingly to no success, the only way I can make any ground is to go in solo and pick off a couple at a time and retreat, rinse and repeat

For those who have been successful in one go, how have you been able to complete these Forest Bandit Hideouts? The party queue doesn't seem to actually determine who goes in with me. Are all of you just waiting for some bandits to leave the hideout?

Is the only way to retreat and come back later several times? If so, how long does it take before you can raid the hideout again?

I did one one last night. 22-15-5-5 and won with 2 guys left.

Set your guys to shield wall first and put them in a position, then set them to follow, come to a enemy or group, then charge, once they have been killed change back to follow, rinse repeat till you win.

Its not THAT hard. Its a challenge just stop yolo'ing these places aand you'll be fine.

I can try this but the guys that join me appear to be randomly selected each time I try and not everyone has shields. Another odd thing I've noticed is that sometimes all enemies are pulled at once even when just focused on one area of the map.

Whats your difficulty setting for AI challenge, i forget the exact option, AI combat intelligence, AI Combat, whatever.

Mine is set to average, so the default is good maybe thats why cuz i havent run into that problem. Each little group sticks to itself inthe camps that i clear.

I changed mine to Average because the Ai has perfect timing on blocks and attacks on good and i can hardly kill1 guy due to it.......IE Im not that good. lol

I did change dmg to realistic though to offset the dumbing down of the AI.

My ai is set on good, dmg on 2/3 (easy). It only happens sometimes where everything is pulled though, which is strange.

After many tries, I was able to cheese it. I set my guys a ways behind me and just sat peaking behind a tree and picked everyone off with arrows when I was fortunate to not pull everyone lol. I don't think this is what the devs intended though. But it can be done after much frustration.

But that doesn't always work.

I set 8 Sergeants to the top of my queue - My companion, 3 sergeants, a couple of recruits and some others came in too who were at the bottom of the list.

Either it's SUPPOSED to work, but it doesn't, or perhaps there should be a better way.
