not sure if this a legacy native map issue or not:

First noticed this when i was with king ulric, and he was moving into that corner and i was like "wtf is he doing?" next thing i know he's fording the river and crossing it
When the bridge was there, people got stuck on it - a known Native problem - so the bridge became a ford. SD spent a lot of time trying to make sure nobody got stuck on the map, but it is always a Native issue.
ok, i didnt remember there being a bridge there at all (its been a while since i've played m%b, native or pop) and it seemed like a rather out of the way place to put a bridge, and one, if i were the D'shar, would have NEVER let be built
Don't forget that SD rearranged the map for PoP 3, too. When he first rotated it, lots of strange things happened and he had to do a bunch more work on it. He also changed a vast amount of the terrain, from flat plains to hilly wooded areas, etc. (Much to the annoyance of those of us who are heavy cavalry fans! )
This is a change that I personally like very much, it avoids both bridge and army "sticking" problems, and makes a short cut of the former round the lake route. Let the would-be traveler be informed of Singal's reputation and be prepared to expect there might be some people interested in new rowers for galleys that are well aware of this ford and its opportunities for ambush.

"The Man" has spoken glad it isnt just a glitch where the river wasnt wide enough on screen or anything. Honestly, when i saw Ulric do it, i was thinking to myself "Bet this isnt gonna work for me "
