Go into options->performance->texture streaming budget

set this to HIGH or VERY HIGH. You should notice a MASSIVE increase in performance, i gained 20+ frames on multiplayer, i also ran a 600 man custom battle with steady frames, 25-30 fps. Hope this helps my potato PC gamers

I can second this. After I turned that up I was getting 71-95 frames stationary on the campaign map. 35-45 with time at its maximum speed and 25-35 during large battles. Before that I was getting maybe 50 at best. Battles and especially sieges got SUPER chonky on the frames with constant dips below 20.

BTW this is all at 2k Resolution maxed settings with a gtx 1080, 16 gigs of ram and a 6 core processor at 3.8ghz. Something tells me its my processor thats bottle necking me with this game because changing most video settings doesn't give me any extra frames.

that works, thanks man

Another Tip: Reduce the Ragdoll Count to 10 or 5 in large Sieges! Helps me increasing my FPS from 2 to 45.
Running on a 1080TI in 4K =P

I wonder if that's more of a CPU thing. I honestly don't know but I'll be trying it out.

What I've found out is that it helps during the creation of large amounts of ragdolls. So when I do my custom battles what I see is sometimes 15 or more people will die at a time and I can get this massive fps spike, this helps keep that under control. Thanks

For me I have the opposite effect where if I turn it up high then my game stutters a lot, why is this?

Are you overloading your video memory? The bar at the top showing how many MB are available tells you how much wiggle room you have. You may need to turn down/off most other settings to low to be able to afford the high texture streaming budget

Theyre all already at the lowest setting lol

The main problem is RAM. While 8 GB is recommended, you really need 16. I have been able to just barely play with 8GB by setting all quality to Low and putting in a USB stick and activating Speed Boost so that Windows has a way of getting out of the way of the game. The memory leak problem makes this all worse.

Idk i think its optimisation overall.

Siege ladders bugged atm.

I have a i7 7800x ,1080 Ti, 16gb ram. I'll test in medium setting in a bit to see how frames do. But at max/high i get 20-40fps on 1k man battles/ sieges.

Hopefully a little more optimization helps everyone.

Sorry it is not Speed Boost it is Ready Boost and I dedicated the whole stick to the function and made sure it was NTFS formatted.

I have 2 monitors, so I run diagnostics in the second window CPU, GPU, Memory, etc...

And I've noticed the longer you play the worse everything gets... If you save, close Bannerlord, and reload the game everything runs smooth again.

So it's definitely a coding error, or garbage collection isn't being deleted. So when things get too bad, restart the game up

There are probably memory leaks.
How is the CPU usage on your computer?
CPU read is always 100% except when not doing anything(moving mouse).

I just bought this $1000 gaming laptop last year, and have been able to run all sorts of (high demand) games without a hitch. Bannerlord however on low pushes it to it's limit, since the latest update. I've went through all background apps and stopped them, set everything on low to off. I even went as far as making the resolution so bad you can't tell the difference between a tree and unit. No noticeable effect, still lags like crazy the longer I play.

*Need I remind you, first hour or so is glass smooth.

Seems to work so much I forgot about your advice, thank you.

Yeah, so same conclusion as in my case: the issue has nothing to do with GPU, abilities to produce FPS itself. I can go from low to very high settings, I get the same FPS and my GPU are never used fully.
There must be odd crap in the IA code that makes it loops.

No need to use cpuburn to test your fans, just play bannerlord
