For those in the U.S. such as myself, here's one good place to go:
http://www.budk.com/

You'll probably never find a place with cheaper swords, knives, axes, and such. They also have some nice images in their online catalog. If you ever buy something from them, they'll keep sending you new catalogs every month or two as well.

Part of my sword/knife/etc. collection has come from them. Some of their stuff is cheaply made, but for the prices they're at, you can't really complain.

Just thought I'd share with the group.

EDIT: also, for people looking for inspiration on weapon models, browsing their catalog could come in handy.

Yep... but check the Bud K site, they sell some of Cold Steel's stuff. And compare the prices: Bud K sells their stuff cheaper than they do on their own site.

Cold Steel does have some nifty info and such though.

Do you know if these "weapons" have an cutted (right word ?) blade ?

I'm a great fan of medieval times, especially medieval weapons and would like to create my own collection.
But it is nearly impossible to get some swords for decent prices here in germany, so even if I import them it would be a lot of cheaper then buying here. :???:
The problem are the really strict weapon-laws we have. As far as I know, if I import something that can be considered as a real weapon I'll get in some big trouble.

So long ...

To Worbah:
Not sure about Bud K. The contact e-mail address listed on their site is [email protected], so you could check with them.
I think Cold Steel does ship internationally.

EDIT:

Bendit:
Bud K does sell some items which don't have an actual cutting edge (have to hunt for them though), but not sure if they ship internationally.

That is the worst side of Cold steel
Hey, one good thing for scandinavian guys: http://www.teraasekeskus.com/teraasekeskus.html quiet high prices thought -.-

Btw, if you do have any swords, how many/ what kind of swords do you people have? I have one carbon steel sabre, and one carbon steel short sword...

I have plently of other medieval weapons than swords, swords are expensive to come by...

WAY too many pictures for my dial-up connection. I think here in BC, Canada you have to be 16+ to own a sword. Not sure if there are any restrictions on the different types + sharpness though. I'll look at those two sites on monday or tuesday.

Rollipeikko, since you're all for dual wielding, check out the "Bangkok Battle Set" towards the bottom of Bud K's intro page. Only 20 bucks, too.

Pictures of some of my collection to follow shortly.

I might post a pic of my collection. Most of it is the type of stuff people sell to tourists. But hey, they were cheap.

Yep, i checked it out... I think I am fallen in love  They are awesome!

Btw, how though are they? Are they ready for battle like cold steels weapons? if they are... I am going to buy them right away!

Well, here you go, some of my collection along with descriptions:

I don't have that one myself... I've got too many swords as it is, with no place to put more.
Judging from the pics online and in their magazine I'd say... The blade quality is probably pretty good. The hilts are made from plastic which ain't great, but they might work well enough. Couldn't comment on the sturdiness they might have. The sheath design looks pretty cool, though it's made of nylon. Durable, but still cheap.
Overall, definitely worth 20 bucks for the 2 swords and dual back sheath, IMO.

Janus, looks like that I've found other true weapon maniac  i don't have so many swords, but spears, qlaives, daggers, bows (especially bows, all self made... But they are quiet good anyway) arrows... almost all my weapons are self made  i am kind of weaponsmith ^^ and they do workking well

Cool, you make your own? That kicks ass.

I've got a really cheap little crossbow which is fun to mess with, but I'd love to have a bow. I've used a bow like a couple of times in my life. Once earlier this year at a local Indian reservation and museum which was fun, and once in some summer camp like 12-13 years ago. I enjoyed both times.

EDIT: was talking to Rollipeikko, PrinceScamp.

That site is pretty cool. I must say those prices on chain and ring mail are quite good, even converted to U.S. $. I've checked various places in the past and from what I remember their prices averaged about twice as much as that for mail.

Sure, post the pic of it when he gets it done.
What you been using that knife for? Looks a little rusty on part of the edge. Nicely made though and has that authentic look to it.

Yeah, the celtic sword and that one full tang katana are the two I'd pick as the most "battle-ready". Some of the others are decently balanced, some are unwieldy, but those two have that really smooth "flow" and balance to them if you know what I mean.

EDIT: By the way, I modifed the text in my sword listing a bit with more info on the antique sword. Just checked the papers and found it's Burmese and is called a Dha. Not from the island of Java after all.
It also has some gold inlay in the blade, and an old french coin set into the top of the hilt where it meets the blade.

That's actually not rust, just the way the light reflects off the edge. It is pretty old, and well used, but I've taken care of it. Sturdy as hell, razor sharp. The thing's like an axe, I've used it for chopping firewood, cooking, home defense, construction... you name it. Great knife. My dad found it in Venezuela in the 70s when he was with the peace corps.

Full length, handle and blade, is 16 inches, pretty hefty. it could take a limb off easy if used right. Unwelcome guests tend to leave quickly if you've got this in hand and a serious look on your face.

Cool history on it. Heh.

Sharpest thing I've ever had was a pair of kama from Bud K... they were truly razor sharp, meaning you could shave yourself quite cleanly if you weren't afraid of slicing your cheek off. They came with these tight thick plastic sleeves on the blades to protect them, but with a slight bit of pressure one sliced right through the sleeve. Oops. A slight bit of pressure against a half-inch thick rope sliced cleanly and easily through it.

Looks like they still have them at Bud K, for 10 bucks:

Cheaply made and with low quality metal, but truly razor honed and sturdy all the same.

I ended up giving those to a chick I knew a while back who actually trained in the use of kama specifically. She had some flat-edged training kama, and was the type of person always worried about self defense, so I figured it was the thing to do. Just hope she didn't end up cutting somebody up with em.

Ive been looking for suitable throwing knives to buy , but its hard to tell what would be good quality to me.

Anyone know any good sites ?
