Foot collision system

First good afternoon.

My english is bad, it's why i try to explain my idea with a picture.

Often in big melle fight, npc become to  close for correctly hit the ennemy.
They are stuck...with allied and with ennemy and can't move.
And consequential the animation of one hit can't be done.

i suggest a collision circle (cylinder) around every character, use for walk (not to be a collision for damage)

i think the melle fight will be more realistic, beautyfull, fun and dangerous.

see my picture if i failled to explain.

i think the idea can be apply for horse (not with a circle) but it's less usefull than foot fight.

I'm not sure it would work for horses though. I mean, horses are supposed to charge through with very close contact.

However, on foot this is a really good idea.

i am happy

i think it's usefull for foot fight.

and for dagger, collision circle should be ignore because be very close and don't let ennemy use his weapons. it's the objective of this weapons...

No retard with a choice would bring a dagger on a battlefield, and any dagger user deserves to die.

Well, what about peasants who only have daggers? Or if someone pretends to get their weapon lost/broken and uses a dagger as a backup? Illogical, yes, but it still might happen, so...

Well, a dagger would actually be nice in this kind of situation, as you could just get right up into their grills and gut the poor bastard, and all they would be able to do is bonk you on top of the head with the pommel.

thats unrealistic by far though. Swords were deadly even at close range, and honestly, the space represents pushes and shoves. There should be NO ADVANTAGE to a dagger over a spear, sword, axe, etc. This isn't counter strike or some such game.
Edit: I might mention I said make it harder for dagger users, not impossible mind you. Peasents also should have little chance of surviving without nay form of training (Troops WERE trained before battle, peasents were just used as a meatline and to maybe pick off, distract, or break formation of the lower tier soldiers.

Heck ya this is a good idea, its stupid to be right in front of the person and not be able to do anything to them, you kind of just hit them with your arm...which does nothing

If the I.a. was very good... this problem will not be.

But the position for figthing is incorrect and unrealistic.

the problem can be resolve by work on I.A.... or by (i think) this cylinder of collision.
