Once upon a time, in an alternate universe, my other self craves for butter...
Villages should have food that they regularly produce like how some cities have goods of specialty.
+ Villages can specialize in 1-2 kind of food (butter, pork, chicken, etc) and they will have a few of these items per season
+ Typically the rarer the kind of food is, the less likely there will be a village which produce them.
+ Similarly the less amount of item there is per food stack, the longer the "season" for it is. In example, grain might takes 10 days per season, but honey takes 14 days.
+ Also the price is higher then average, needed to be paid in advance but the early the payment the less it is. The player can ask the state of the current season, which will reflect its result. Naturally the closer to the end the more accurate the result will be. That's why it should get more expensive in the end, to encourage players to take risk and pay early.
+ Products are typically kept in the player's storehouse and can be taken whenever they wish.
+ Once the player has married and/or got fiefs, they can request to directly send the products to their kitchen instead, for some transportation fee of course.
+ Villages you own can pay tax in food supplies instead of money.
This would help greatly in the food logistic problem and open up the possibility for logistic feature where the player can manage castles in details i.e. keeping food variety to increase centre's training speed, high supply to increase garrison auto-train cap and to adjust amount of days supply will last while under siege.
