Battlesizer: 250.
Forgive the inconsistent tense; am writing some comments as issues come up and others in retrospect.
Bug 1 (minor, cosmetic): When viewing the upgrade tree of any faction, clicking on a specific unit type and then returning to tree view causes the page
title to change to "Freelancers". However, the page still shows the correct troop tree. Have tried this with random Swadian, Vaegir, and Khergit units; this happened every time.
-Edit 1------------------------------------------------------
Questionable content item 1 (troop type): The Swadian I6 Highlander's skills are tank-like, with 6 points in Shield and better 1-hand prof than 2-hand prof. However, his equipment list contains no shields and only one of five possible weapons is a 1-hander. Is this intended or an oversight?
-Edit 2------------------------------------------------------
Bug 2 (moderate?, functional): After viewing Upgrade Trees, I exited to the root Reports menu and then tried to click back into Upgrade Trees. This caused the Sovereignty Reports screen to pop up instead.
a. Exiting the Reports menu altogether did not fix the problem. I now cannot access the Upgrade Trees menu at all.
b. View All Items still works fine.
c. After Viewing All Items, attempting to view Upgrade Trees calls up error messages.
d. Reloading the game fixed the issue.
e. I then tabbed back and forth between Root and Upgrade Trees without problems.
f. However, clicking on one single Swadian unit in the UT caused the problem to reappear.
g. This time, the screen that came up was "Dictate Peace Terms" instead.
I begin to suspect this may be linked to Bug 1, meaning that that bug may not be, as I had assumed, merely cosmetic.
-Edit 3------------------------------------------------------
Questionable content item 2 (troop type): The Swadian A5 Sheriff has only crossbow proficiency but only uses bows.
Questionable content item 3 (weapon): One of my starting weapons is a scythe. While mounted, I can only thrust with it, not swing it, which is a little odd considering the nature of the weapon.
Language item 1: There are a number of errors in Nadia's first-meeting speech. Please refer to the following screenshot.
1a, 1b: If I am not mistaken, you should not capitalize a word that follows three ellipsis points. A couple of quick references:
A,
B.
2: I assume she is still on the run? If so, "are" here is more properly "have been".
3: Typo: "awful".
The next paragraph contains a rather odd statement:
Finally, the comma in the next screencap changes the meaning of the sentence it belongs to.
With the comma: So please, dear madame, protect me from everyone who wants to kill me, just because I am a woman!
= Please protect me because I am a woman.
Without the comma: So please, dear madame, protect me from everyone who wants to kill me just because I am a woman!
= Please protect me from (extreme) sexual discrimination.
Edit: Oh yes, forgot to mention this earlier: why "madame" instead of "madam"? Is Nadia French-ish? (Honest question; not being snarky.)
Bug 3 (minor, subject/object): If you talk to a merchant you have hired while you are in town and tell him to get ready to leave,
you will be the one responding with, "Of course, master."
-Edit 4------------------------------------------------------
Bug 4 (goods):
1. Spices are now "Dummy items".
2. Pork still comes from undead pigs, and olives are still invisible.
-Edit 5------------------------------------------------------
Bug 5 (fog of war):
With FoW enabled, it is still possible to navigate directly to any location by using Show On Map from the Locations menu. Is this working as intended?
Bug 6 (Merchant bonus):
Having 1-4 merchants in your party is supposed to give a +1 Trade bonus. There is 1 merchant in my company.
My character currently has a basic Trade skill of 2, which gives a bonus of +1.
My final Trade level is 3+1 and not 2+2. It's the same final value, of course, but this is somewhat confusing.
Edit: Just hired Ghazwan and a second merchant. Oddly enough, though Ghazwan is a better Trader than I am (base 4 vs. 2), the Party display shows that I am the primary Trader (3+2, which incidentally gives an incorrect total).
Disbanding
both Merchants makes Ghazwan the default Trader (3+1, also incorrect). Disbanding just one Merchant effects no change.
Reloading and disbanding Ghazwan instead interestingly also does not result in a change. Now when I go one step further and disband 1 Merchant, my display still shows 3+2... but contrast that with my earlier observation that having 1 Merchant in my party gives me a Trade score of 3+1, not 3+2.
Something rather funky is going on here.
Bug 7 (minor, speech): The Praven harbourmaster seems unable to tell that my character is female. Also, his speech has not been sandwiched between quotation marks.
Bug 8 (moderate, setting): In tournament options, Renown Scaling is always unticked each time you visit the Display Settings screen. It is unclear to me at this stage if the option resets itself when you visit the settings screen or if it is not properly saved when you exit the screen.
Bug 9 (minor, conversation): I was just speaking with Count Tredian in Derchios Castle when I brought up the possibility of working for him. He offered me a place in his army, and I chose the "reconsider" option, which instead caused me to try to talk to him in private.
Bug 10 (major, quest): I had completed Duke Clais's quest to collect taxes from Dhirim, but had gone the bleeding heart route and reduced the collection amount. After this, I travelled to Praven, took part in and lost a tournament, and attended the feast.
At the feast, I spoke with Count Plais and signed up with his army. I then spoke to Duke Clais, who was standing in the same hall, and found that there was no quest completion option (just "still working" and "can no longer do it"). Taking personal leave or retiring from Plais's army does no good - the quest is marked as completed but I no longer seem able to turn it in. Leaving and re-entering Praven does not solve the problem either.
Reloading the game and talking to Duke Clais
before becoming a part of an army was the only solution I found.
Bug 11 (major, tournament exploit): This time, I joined King Harlaus's army instead. I then took leave to see if my companions would return - they did, except they were returned to my party in reverse order. No biggie.
However, when I entered Praven again, I found that the tournament had reset - I could now take part in the tournament all over again after I had just lost it.
Bug 12 (moderate, dialogue option): After returning to Harlaus's army, I tried to leave Praven and ended up at the enlisted soldier's root menu, which is probably correct behaviour. However, electing to speak with my commander (Harlaus, who was also hosting the tournament/feast in Praven at the moment) caused me to enter the town instead.
Oh ya. Rejoining Harlaus also caused the tournament to be reset yet again.
Bug 13 (major, property): Buying land is not working for me. I bought 1 acre in Praven and another in Reyvadin, but for two consecutive weeks the bank report has been showing that I own nothing.
Bug 14 (minor, graphics): While travelling as part of Harlaus's army, I hit my inventory button and found that Harlaus had melted the rear half of my horse.
Exiting and re-entering the Inventory screen did not make my horse better again.
-Edit 6------------------------------------------------------
Bug 15 (freelancer - deserting):
I deserted from Harlaus's army and was told I was now wanted. However, his forces did not chase me, and when I talked to him the next day, he was only slightly unhappy with me but still more than willing to give me quests, etc. Is this because deserting does not decrement faction and/or noble relationship by a large enough amount?
Bug 16? (properties):
Apparently, not only are my lands not showing up on the finance screen, my enterprises aren't either. Is this related to being enlisted? Note that I enlisted while in a castle, not in the field.
Bug 17 (major, freelancer):
If I am not mistaken, when you enlist with an army, your own private company is supposed to wait in
Hammerspace for you. When you take leave or retire from service, they will welcome you back with open arms.
Except that some of them seem to randomly disappear in your absence...
While trying to take a leave of absence, I accidentally left Harlaus's employ.
[Note: perhaps an are-you-sure dialogue here would be a good idea.] I then immediately re-enlisted, forgetting that I was in the field. This caused a battle prep screen to come up (no screenshot, sorry - it's the biege screen with the announcement that you are facing an army of such-and-such size) and pretty much hang the game. I was forced to shut down the game from Windows.
I restarted Warband and immediately took leave. At that point, I happened to check my Party screen and was surprised to find that my party composition was incorrect. Feeling a bit weirded out and thinking my memory must have failed me, I reloaded and tried again and got a different group. I did this a few more times consecutively, each time following exactly the same steps (reload -> take leave -> check Party), and each time getting different party members.
You will note from the screenshot that both companions and normal hirelings can be lost this way.
Very odd, to say the least.
Edit: Interesting. In my current load, Nadia has been lost. However, when I talk to Travellers, I don't get the choice to locate her.
Edit 2: Very interesting. I just visited every town in Calradia using Ctrl+LMB and Nadia is nowhere to be found. It's almost as if she has been wiped from existence.
