Flails

I just realized... There are no flails (some people wrongly call them "morningstars") in the game, nor one-handed nor two-handed.
Why? They're *great* weapons, expecially on horseback or if you want to shatter a shield to small tiny wooden chips. And they look really really powerful.
I've searched in the old topics, but I didn't find anything, did anyone else misses them too?

Yup, and i posted this in the thread called "what weapons would you like to see" or something. Flails and all kinds of slings are probably the only weapons that arent in M&B

I just hate flails for no real reason.

I think a sword or axe is much more efficient.

Longer reach, axes can cut right through armor with little or no trouble at all, and they just look...

cooler.

I mean cmon, a big spiky ball, on a chain, attatched to a stick.

So what?

Imagine... On a big plain... all behind you is white... in front of you... a fierce knight looks at you through his helmet... You let go a warcry and ride forth... he does the same... You double-handedly raise your flail, and spin it in the air.. he is holding a sword and a shield with black inscriptions all around it... you ride toward each other... as you pass beside him.. he raises his shield, to which you respond by hitting it with your flail.. it shatters his shield.. the crest his family held for decades undone by a single stroke of your weapon.. but that's not all.. the blow goes and hits his plate armour.. landing the mightiest blow you had ever been witness too... the armour is damaged... and as his horse keeps riding, you notice your blow was enough to hit and break his chest bones, killing him in a single hit.. he drops his sword, and his body falls sideways.

You are victorious.

Pfft that's just a longwinded way of saying flails are COOL :P

(Having said that I'd never use one ^_^)

I *love* flails. The first weapon I've ever bought in my collector's life is a flail. I shove my nose with my flail. I use my flail as a spoon. I use my flail to scare thieves and mugglers, and my girl too. I do *everything* with my flail.
There are cat people, dog people, I'm a flail people. Just give me a flail please.

Well... a "flail" is, as I said, a big spiky ball on a chain attatched to a stick.

Basically a morningstar, but with a chain. So what?

I could stab you with my sword. Let's see you flail your way out of THAT one.

Kind of hard to stab anyone when one's sword is flying off to the side faster than you can say "Uh-oh," isn't it?

As for animation limitations, how exactly are the weapons handled? Would it be possible to add a bone to the avatar's setup that would control the mobile part of the flail -- said bone being unused for all other animations? It would be a little bit of a fudge but would avoid the necessity of adding a complete set of animations for one weapon class.

Of course, it would mean that all flails would have a handle of identical length.

Just an idea, in the hopes it stokes some creavity in Armagan or anyone else who might have the wherewithal to pull such a feat off 8)

pfft nice long long story you got up there  , how bout the knight has a lance and kills you before the flail reaches him? They would probaly be low attacking rating (very very low) and a decent reach, a sidestep or a steel sheild would pwn anyone with it.

1*attack with flail*
2*sheild up,block 216 danmage on sheild*
2*raises scimatar slashes*
1*slow attack rating, gets hit again till dead*

The game has rigid body physics (think basic havoc without ragdoll), so a proper flail could be done. The only thing I'm unsure about is implementing the controlls. The ordinary attacks are ok, but a flail would seem half done unless you could twirl it over your head before crushings someones skull.

We could use some changes regarding these shields, too.

Flails, for instance, were so frigging effective becaus they can reach AROUND shields with little to no loss of momentum.

I present my own humble creation as an example: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/18485803/
