And I guess you also have 'textures load on demand' checked?
In case you have a dual core check 'force single threading'.

Well, no clue about the outcome and like said I guess you already took note of this but who knows?
Good luck!

hmm... as far as the game itself should run on your specs, i'm not sure about the mod as it consumes a lot of resources, mainly memory. you could try expanding your RAM a bit (if it's possible for your laptop model) and then use the fix. then again, you can't do anything about the 150MB of your vcard, may be not enough.

still... theoretically it should be possible to apply the fix and then just adjust your virtual memory so RAM + VM would exceed 3GBs... however, i'm not sure about the outcome and i have a flu right now so i may be wrong as the thinking process really sucks when your brain is overheating a bit... enzymes, stuff like that... plus the performance of your OS may go south a bit... i suggest making a backup point

Hi.
I'm playing Brytenwalda mod. I know this is for 1257 AD but i have the same problems as mentioned here in this thread.
During or after bigger battles or sometimes even in the middle of normal gameplay, my game crashes.
I tried several solutions:
- reduced the number of soldiers on the field to a max of 150.
- reinstalled mod
- switched off firewall, wlan and virus detector
- increased my swapfile ("RAM" on hard drive) to 9 GB
- checked "Load textures on demand" and "force single threading"
- framerate to 80
- 1024x768 pixels ( my laptop is 17')
- switched off "dust" (all in all: reduced graphics enormously)
- switched off some other background programms
- direct X 7
- tried some other solutions from the forum.

now i have no idea what else to do.

ah, during battle, following message is shown in red:
SCRIPT WARNING on OPCode: 1774 agend ID: 0; line 93
at mission template mst_quick_battle_battle trigger no. 14
at mission template mst_quick_battle_battle trigger no. 14
at mission template mst_quick_battle_battle trigger no. 14

alternativly, it was sometimes ...battle trigger no. 35

is that about a syntax error?

my system:
HP Pavillion dv7 Notebook PC
Intel(R) Core(TM)2Duo CPU P8400 2,26Ghz
4 GB RAM
32-bit OS Windows

I only bought Warband cause of the mods.
1257 AD itself is running great (good job btw^^).
Only Brytenwalda crashes.

Sry for bothering you.

sorry dude, i have never seen Brytenwalda so can't really refer to it. if the 1st post in this thread didn't help then i have no idea how to help.
however, you can try reading the file "rgl_log.txt" in your warband directory. the last lines should have some kind of info describing the error that caused the game to crash. try posting it here - maybe there's an explanation for it.

other than that? hmm... i really don't know.

I don't like not to know how to help or have a least a clue but I can't come up with anything more than a question?
You say Brytenwalda crashes on you. Brytenwalda with polished textures or does it crash even without?

it's without polished landscapes

Sorry to hear that.

Alright, one last thing and probably a stupid question but I don't really know you, you know?
The space provided for your swap file is actually free useable space? Or could it be that your harddrive is full?

haha lol
yeah it's free space.
every harddrive has about 60 to 90 GB free space.

my rgl_log says:

so this is a log after a crash?
strange... everything seems ok.

the red error stuff which you've posted a few messages ago happens from time to time in many mods (if not every each one of them) so this may not be related to the crashes you are having. rgl_log seems quite fine too... no idea.
is there any other message while the game crashes?

sometimes, but not every time,
there is a popup that says "runtime error".
Problem is: the number of the runtime error isn't shown.
So i don't know why exactly it crashes. I will try to make it crash,
and then i will post the message here.

UPDATE: The runtime error has no number. It's just said that "the programm [i think warband] requested a runtime error to shut down in unusual way" (kind of that formulation was used).
I've come to the conclusion that these crashes are no bug or something, but just a lack of RAM. Brytenwalda, it seems, has so much data, that 32 OS can't handle it. Eventually i'll update to 64 OS sometimes and i hope it'll run properly then.

Hi

Ive got the now apperantly classic "game freezes and replays last few frames" problem (while playing PoP, but they linked me to you).

win XP proffesional, SP3
2GB ram
ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2

Ive tried your fix, but ran into a problem:

My BASIC and UNALTERED boot file looks like this:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

And adding the "/3GB /USERVA=2990" makes it
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn /3GB /USERVA=2990
Instead of
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /3GB /USERVA=2990

Now then.... looks harmless to me (famous last words)... so I try booting with this. Halfway into booting, it blue screens of death's me. Secure mode and removing the "/3GB /USERVA=2990" makes the world a happy place for my computer, and it boots fine again. So I try the one one you posted, multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /3GB /USERVA=2990 , and the same blue screen shows up.

There is a 100% chance that you know more than me (zero) about booting, so... any advise?

what does the blue screen say? if there's an error there should be a name for it somewhere in the header of the screen.
also, i noticed that you have 2gb of ram. how much virtual memory have you set? if you're going to set 3gb memory for one process then you'll need at least something like 2gb of virtual ram. have in mind that you need to have this free disk space wherever the swap file is located (by default it's the system partition).

Bluescreen disappears a moment after it appears, reseting the computer.

VM was 2GB, now adjusted to 3GB.

When I type in that bcdedit command it says:

The boot configuration data store could not be opened.
Access is denied.

I have no clue about this technical mumbo jumbo, could someone please explain what I need to do/have done wrong?

go to Menu Start -> Programs -> Accessories, press RMB on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator

Hmm... click RMB on My Computer, choose Properties and go to uuh... Advanced tab I think... There will be a button in a group of Recovery or something like that called Settings. Click on it and untick the field next to automatic reset. Next time the blue screen appears it shouldn't reset by itself

Hi, while your solution is great I was wondering if it is possible to change the ''/3GB /USERVA=2990'' to ''/2,5GB /USERVA=2990'' (will using a comma '','' be okay or should I use a dot ''.'')?
The problem is that when using the 3GB version of the solution I get a problem with my GOM player overlay mixer (the thing responsible for showing volume,...) so I think changing to 2,5GB might solve my problems.

My specs:
windows xp
3GB ram
2,26 GHz dual core
512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3430
I have virtual memory ste to a minimum of 4-5GB

Hi, before when i have Warband version 1.134 and i try to play AD 1257 i get this error:
