Fix for insane fog algorithum?

About 90% of my games have no fog at all.  The other 10% have fog almost ENDLESSLY.  My current game has unending fog that fades in and out and it's driving me crazy.  The way fog is generated is completely stupid - fog should not be so rare or last so long.  It should come now and then and LEAVE within a week if not sooner.  Is there any mod or patch that makes fog more sane?

I know I'm not the only one who has this problem, I've seen reviews by people who got unlucky and got endless fog.  These reviews are very negative because it's very joyless to play like this.  I hate to think that 10% of people who pick up the game will be turned away because of this random issue.

Thanks, but unfortunately you're just another person to bring this up. I can't believe there hasn't been some kind of patch for this. It does indeed absolutely ruin the game, no matter what your character build, playing style, or party is. Even worse is when it's so bad you can't even see your map.

I'm going to try to fix this next time I update my mod. Dedicated fans of the game really deserve better than to be forced to play in that sort of ill-thought-out mess of haze.

Unfortunately, I doubt anyone else here is going to be able to help you either. I've tried.

Fog is one of the things that made me enjoy Dark Mod.  A bunch of undead warriors with scythes suddenly emerging from mist surrounding me was totally awesome.  I know it can suck when you are playing an archer character and you have no idea where anything is until the enemy is within 20 feet of you, but it can also lead to very dramatic images.

Hey hey. I'm not complaining about the *existence* of fog.  Playing in a fogged battle occasionally is great.  Trying to navigate on the map with bandits everywhere and I can't see 2 feet in front of me is thrilling.  It's just the way fog is distributed that sucks.  If I survive a week of fog, I'm not rewarded with lack of fog, I'm punished WITH MORE FOG.

The fog has now persisted for a GAME MONTH!  I will not give up, I will play until it leaves so I can discover just how bad this problem is!!!

The only thing it does is give an advantage to Knights.

Not for me -.-

I hate when i dont know exactly where my opponent is, and barely being able to see stray arrows that make it to me.

p.s. I dont use mini-map, very unrealistic

...mini-map?  Is...is that a thing?  I swear last time I played there weren't any mini-maps.  I assume that is for a mod?

Settle your party into a town for a few days, or until the fog lifts, and drink yourselves silly in the mean time. After it's gone, you can come out of your hiding hole and survey what has changed while you were hibernating.

Nope, it's in Native. Backspace key, dontcha know.

Woa, I had no idea that was there.

Of course I'll never use it.. this is the dark ages, not star trek..

And the fog cleared up for real in about 2 months.  For some reason it was less intense during the second month but still occasionally enveloping.
