is anyone playing the game in third person view?

i cant stand third person.. i think being in the eyes of the character is much better, you feel the intensity and violence more.. plus the swordfighting is so much more accurate.

cause the attacks happen to you... not to the little person chased by a camera..

i mean,, i dont want to look at the character fighting. i want to be the character.

(btw. There is a thread about this.)

I use third person, because I wasn't aware of the 1st person untill my first char was about 40lvl.

In first person it is annoying that I don't know my surroundings as well as I would do in IRL.

Here's the relevant thread: http://taleworlds.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=2115&highlight=first+person

I would play First Person if the impact of weapons, sounds, and graphics were more intense. It does feel more real:

* if when you're hit, your vision shakes momentarily or everything goes red.

*
if a javelin hits your shield, and bits of the shield fly off

*when an arrow flys by your head, you see the arrowhead/feathers and hear the "whoooooosh" of the near miss.

We don't have that now. So I play Third Person exclusively.

I only play third. First person is ALOT harder, especially with melee weapons while on horseback. Its ok if you're an archer, but thats about it. Like Ilex said, you just can't get an idea of your surroundings while in 1st.

I'd play first person if there was some form of peripheral vision.

Could have the side margins of the screen blurred but showing a bit of what's to your left and right... almost like slightly bending a panoramic photo.

I play third because it gives you a slightly more realistic angle of view. First would be fine if you were in a VR setup were looking around was as easy as turning your head, but you have to swivel your entire body to look around in game.

I play in third, simply because fighting melee in first is a lot harder, especially when you're fighting more than one person.

I also play in third person. Although first person should technically be more immersive, it makes me feel as if i'm watching a floating sword move around. Plus, all the animations of battle (sword swinging, drawing bows, ect) aren't visible, and you don't get to see your own armor, sword, and horse. Not only that, the models look way better in 3rd person.

I suppose it depends a lot on what you're used to, and on personal preference.

Personally I'm something of a first-person zealot and will always play a game in first-person if possible. It is somewhat harder, of course, in that you're deprived of much of your sense of surroundings, and turning around is particularly awkward in M&B, but nonetheless I find it far easier and more intuitive than third-person, which I find disorientating and confusing.

And yet I know others who say the exact opposite. Third-person is intuitive and easy, first-person is disorientating and difficult. Funny how that sort of thing works, isn't it?

I find this game M&B virtually unplayable in first person: with no ability to turn my head without turning my body, I can't effectively coordinate my troops or determine who needs help. Once I add the loss of seeing my hero in action, there's no choice for me but to play 3rd person.

Now, there are many First Person Shooters, say Half Life 2, that I have no problem playing in first person and in those games, I feel no loss in not seeing my character and it is immersive: but in those games I'm usually not commanding soldiers that I want to keep alive and I'm using weapons (guns, mostly of various sorts) that I don't need to see moving to be sure they're ready and in position. In M&B, I need to know that my character has drawn his bow and ready to shoot, and I need to know who's been surrounded on the other side of the field - so I need 3rd person for that. If the individual troops were smarter, than I'd leave them on their own.

I use FPV, because its harder and requries more skill and intelligence to know whats going on around you without having to directly see it.
