What if when we see a downed or injured enemy we can press a button to toggle a special finsiher move with your weapon and brutally kill him? If you do this the enemy see you and gets morale lowered seeing their teammate brutally killed and don't want to fight you and this could even scare the enemy into retreating.

Why do I have a my little pony pfp?

What if when your character is down or injured the NPCs can trigger a special finisher move that will brutally kill your character?

Personally, I don't want the developers to waste time programming animations and logic for such shameless brutality as "finisher moves", when there are valid gameplay issues in dire need of more work.

When an opponent is down and "out of play", what's the point in diverting your attention from winning the battle to making as much of a jerk of yourself as possible, so the enemy hates you and goes out of their way to kill you?  "nope, that big guy with the goofy helmet just murdered one of our boys who was down and not fighting; if he won't accept surrender, then we have no choice but to fight to the death.....his."  Morale can work in two ways, and I can easily see the enemy concentrating their attention on taking out a guy who breaks the normal rules of conduct.

PS - I'm not overly pleased with the new April 1 Iron Chieftain community icons or word adjustments.

We already have them.

Has this child even played Warband, I wonder?

That's a good question. Maybe he think Bannerlord is an upcoming Assassins Creed.

His profile pic is a very good response to all his proposed features for Bannerlord.

The only finishing move Taleworlds should make is the release date. This move will shake the heavens.

regardless of all the flaming bashing and neanderthal responses some gave this guy, having finisher moves would add a kick to player-feedback which's part of all games (for the same reason they've already increased blood splatters for blunt weapons, for instance). And it'd be cool and all, problem is that finding a way of implementing that under the core mechanics of the game seems quite impossible unless they'd add what Funcom calls "Hyper Armor" and that would obliterate balance and cause a whole other level of problems, the most important being Balance...

So yeah, I'd dismiss this unless they could figure out a way of implementing it seamlessly with the current core meta. Meaning, animations would not affect the combat system, meaning that if you enter a finisher move you could be killed like an idiot, which makes it kind of pointless and very annoying for the player. It's only possible if the finisher moves are insanely quick, which would make them almost unnoticeable. Another option would be skills that can perform finishers, then again, I have no idea how they could add it, specially because I've never played BL  :iamamoron:

Finishers don't really fit the flow of combat in M&B. I think something like limping or crawling while injured etc. might be interesting though. Even something like KO'd characters having a chance to get up again, mid-fight, with reduced HP and stats. Similar to how fights play out in Kenshi. It can be tricky to balance it so it's not too tedious or punishing, but it would be cool idea for a mod at least.

Even those are highly unlikely. It would add a whole new layer of things to code into the game and it would affect MP directly, making it a bit silly. I doubt the MP community from M&B would support this... Imagine how heavy the game would get with massive armies of "limping / crawling" AI...

Yeah, it might be pretty resource heavy. I wasn't thinking of exactly armies of injured but let's say, out of 100 soldiers maybe 12-16. Doesn't have to affect multiplayer either. Although we'll just have to wait and see what's possible.

Maybe it could be implemented like it was done in Halo Reach. When you punch someone you hold the button down to do the finisher animation. When performing this animation however you are still vulnerable for enemy attacks. So this is optional, if the situation requires quick responses you can simply punch and be done with it.

For bannerlord the animation could also be made optionial by pressing a certain key or holding down the attack key when the enemy loses all health.
It could be interesting for gamemodes which don't have a huge amount of players or AI. However I don't think Bannerlord is the type of game that is suitable for finisher animations.

Honestly, your idea sounds excellent... And finisher moves are suitable in any melee game, it's just that when they are made automatic it creates more problems than it should. I do think that having them is a superb addition, and it suits the setting + the game style in general. My worries were only really linked to the "hyper armor" OPness or the unnecessary vulnerability bias would put yourself under if there was no Hyper Armor.

If implemented as an direct input option it'll likely please most players I think, there's absolutely no reason not to put it in except for the extra animation costs (which shouldn't be a problem for TW at this point). So you basically choose if you want to get the satisfaction of the finisher or not whenever you feel like it. Though I wonder how would AI handle that or if it would be completely out of question. Imo AI should be able to do it but it would require some restraints as to avoid being exposed for no reason. Maybe some sort of "last-man-standing" where the AI counts and if there are 10 or less fighters in a battle they'll start using them? That would be neat.
