Fighting within min effective range of weapon

As I mentioned in another thread- there are many ways to deliver blows with weapons when an enemy is very close to you.

I explained what is called a wrap shot.  To execute it is a fairly simple concept.  Extend your arm out straight and perpendicular to your body.  By bending only at the elbow swing your forearm and hand in a circle.  Put a pencil in your hand when you do this- now when you get to the point in the cirlce where your arm is straight(or is the diameter of the cirlce your hand makes as it swings around) move your arm forward with your shoulder.  This allows you to use full power and to still deliver a blow to the enemy while in his face.  This wrap shot is normally executed in conjunction with a side step or steping past an enemy.

Obviously this can't be done with a two handed weapon in the same fashion- however you can punch the enemy with the handle of the weapon and there are similiar things that can be done.

I'll put picturers up when I get home.

EDIT: Oh yes the POINT!  Allow us to do attacks that duplicate this so we can HIT the enemy when they bury their face into mine.

Except that a wrap is a completely ineffectual shot with a sword.  It only works in the SCA because we use clubs, not swords (even if we call them swords).  Swinging a sword sideways, which is what happens half-way through a wrap, will destroy the momentum of the weapon and throw it wildly off-target due to air-resistance.

The wrap only developped in the SCA because we a) stricltly use clubs where the position of the blade has no aerodynamic consequence and b) are prohibited from doing the "smart" thing when that close to an enemy, whether that be pushing, grappling, tripping, punching, or bashing them with the pommel/crossguard or your shield - all of which I would like to be able to do in the game.

Remember, SCA heavy combat is a SPORT, not a medieval recreation.  An extremely fun sport that I love, but still a sport nonetheless.

I'm not refering to the sca.

I'm a member of a group that allows, grapling, shield checking and bashing the enemy's body.  Our swords are not clubs as per sca ratan weapons but realisticly weighted weapons in the shape of a sword.  We still can leave nice bruises using the wrap.

Although there are COUNTERS to the wrap- there are counters to everything.  If the enemy is faked out by say a feint on the left then the wrap can be used to follow up.
