Fiefs & chests

I wanted to make a suggestion for fiefs, but I do not appear to have rights to create a thread in the appropriate forum.

It think it would be useful if in every fief there was some kind of space in which there was an accessible chest like that in Zendar, and which becomes available to you when you acquire the fief.  Not only this actually useful, but it also lends a sense of belonging, of presence and persistence.  It gives fief-holding an element of local control, because even if you lost a battle and were pillaged of all your gear, you may have a backup set stashed away relatively nearby.  Which is quite appropriate for the period and setting, I think.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I've noticed a couple of villages have chests in them already but they're not useable.

You cant post in the Kings court but you can put things like this in the Privy Council.

Thats what its for. Once your idea gets enough popular supposrt it will be put in the Kings Court. Unfortunetly for you this idea has came up before, if you would any amount of searching you would have found similar topics.

I like the idea

For future reference - the board for suggestions is the Privy Council, which is a subboard of the Kings Court, whis I presume is where you initially tried to post this.

Welcome to the forums.

EDIT: damned fast typers :???:

I did in fact search for both "chests" and "fiefs" and didn't find anything relevant.

OK.  I did not expected the sub-board would carry lesser restrictions than its parent, especially what with being "privy" and all.

Welcome to the forums.

Thanks, although I have been around before, back when .750 was out, but not for long.

Not too surprising, it's a pretty easy thing to word differently.

anyway, I'm fairly sure I saw this usggestion too at some point. It's fairly useless, do you ever find yourself wanting to keep an item in reserve? Weapons you use, food you eat, goods you sell horses you ride/use to carry baggage... the game is designed that way.

I agree, I've yet to ever use a chest in any of my games. Also I think it would be a better idea for a castle. Why would you store stuff in an unprotected village when you could put it in one of your castles?

Yes I do, thats why I thought of it.

I dislike selling equippage that is undamaged or balanced.  I might want to keep something for when I or one of the heroes level up later.

I generally have somewhere between 2 and 8 looted items I'm holding onto that would be great for my npcs... in one or two levels.

If you had read the board rules sticky in the King's Court, you would know why you couldn't post there. Please, in future pay attention to any board-specific rules posted.

Well, if I had my way, you'd lose most of your gear when you escaped being captured, so leaving spare armor around would make it easier to get back on your feet.

Although I've never felt the need to keep equipment, I found this to be a nice idea.
But some other modifications should be done as well, if this suggestions is to be applied:

First, the functioning of chests in "public" places, such as Zendar tavern's chest, should be modified (or maybe just removed from game). I mean, anyone could just go there while you're gone and steal your stuff. So this kind of chest should not be able to keep your stuff safe.

Second, fief chests could also get emptied during looting, so putting equipment there would be as safe as you can keep your fief free of enemies. Or maybe there should be a small chance that your stuff get stolen anytime, since a village is not such a safe place (and then a castle chest could be safer).
