Old school (v2+) PWer here, is this any good?
It forces player interaction by using game mechanics rather than rules, factions aren't huge superpowers with actual influence over server management, and the harsh environment provided by the mod's features seems to be filtering out players who connect for the wrong reasons.

It brings me back to pre-v4 times. Not because of a lack of features (at this point, a long list of those are expected), but because you are able to find players who come up with creative ways to entertain themselves that doesn't always involve grinding for gold or the best armour. In addition, the rules weren't made for people who lack the intelligence to grasp anything that doesn't tell them exactly what they can and cannot do. Instead, the ruleset has more of a "don't be an *******" feel to it.

Just try to ignore marshmallows who cry "random!" every time they die.

The RDM issue was brought about by the PW 4.X servers when all of the sudden the masses became reliant on rules and admins rather than themselves and other players. There's still too much grinding IMO and not quite enough player interaction but it's a whole lot better than it was.

Double the HP.
Complete equipment overhaul(new stuff, I am sick of vanilla stuff, been staring at it for years).
New map(Self explanatory).

Kind of hope some more 3d assets will be added in with time, while the native models are nice and fit quite well expanded armories can't hurt!

Sorry we don't want combat to consist of tincanned grind out fights with greatswords :razz:

Well I got killed by a single swing of an elite scimitar in full gear so...I guess you don't play in armor so you like it that way  :ohdear:
Rogues...rogues  everywhere :meh:

This is how I like to play M&B;

Haters gonna hate,
platers gonna plate.

The issue with double health is then you have tin cans taking siege xbow bolts to the head and shrugging it off, greatswords to the neck that seem not to affect anything, etc.

There is not a single historical source of a crossbow bolt directly penetrating a helmet enough to disable the wearer.

Crossbow bolts aren't anti tank missiles you know;

- 1000 pound draw weigh crossbow btw

Helmets don't always cover all of the face. Some leave a rather large fleshy part in the middle to take a shot at. The game engine can't detect that much as far as I know. Also, a piece of steel with plywood for backing doesn't replicate the weight of a man. Put this on a pig carcass and the results might be different.

Yes, that's why, ingame, damage is still dealt regardless of whether it hits flesh or armor regardless of distance.
That is a compromise if I ever saw one.

True, but it is a 1000 pound monster shooting bolts with modern steel tips at 3-5 meters distance though.

Double the hp.
Do it  :party:

While it's a monster no doubt the simple fact that it's got no weight behind it might be enough to penetrate it, there are plenty of videos on Youtube showing crossbows and even longbows with an 85 lb draw piercing a 14th century breastplate.

I knew you would post that video :smile:

That is a cheap LARP replica breastplate.
It is unhardened which can clearly be seen in the hilariously wide dents and the splitting of the metal around the holes the arrows make.
The video has long been debunked and received such criticism and downvotes that both the voting and comment section had to be disabled.

This is how a properly forged breastplate replica actually get's pierced by a bodkin point(though the gambeson stops the arrow after penetration);

The gambeson was not damaged and even if the plate was properly pierced this would be the supposed result since this was what was worn underneath mail/plate;

...and this is the second test which resulted in a dent;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3997HZuWjk&t=1m30s

This was done replicating a shot from a high end longbow at extremely close range firing at perfect conditions at a completely perfect angle.
This is a result of the same test with the arrow  hitting the plate at a slight angle;

I think there will soon be a lynch mob chasing me for posting this stuff everywhere  :shifty:

You've got me bested ser! My google fu was not strong this day. I'll keep looking for videos in the meantime! On another topic, what should get added in terms of new armors and weapons?

I propose a complete overhaul that replaces every single native/PW item.
Chunks of equipment and stuff from other single player mods could be "borrowed"(maybe even certain animation packs if you feel edgy enough), just like the PersistentAge mod did.

The main argument here is that;

Native items are boring as hell.
