Feudal system and immersion

Hi all,

I play mount and blade for a while now, since version 0.903.
I'm a great fan of this game, I tried some different mods and improvments, but i got the feeling that something is missing:

1. When you join a faction you're a "vassal" but no other title, no "duc" no "baron" no "knight".
It would be nice when you're in a faction and you got a great amount of renown or if you already did some great actions for the factionn that you got a tittle or some priviliges, rights, etc....

2. Religion. I think some religion would be great, even if they won't influence the game, this could be good for medieval immersion; chapels, monastery's, etc...

3.Politic's. A law for evrey faction. once in the game i got a very powerfull character, i controlled 3/4 of calendria and still i don't get the feeling of getting mighty cuz my ennemies were talking to my like a was a peasant. a election of a marshall is already in the game but i think there's a lot more to do, to get the feeling you're in a faction that's ALIVE.

4.Entertainment. Hunting parties, troubadours, travelling fairs, duels.

5. Improved Kingdom managment. Assign you're vassals, eclare war and make peace as you wish, diplomatic relations with other factions, creating of own armies.
economic devlopping.

There's a lot on my mind that i think would be good to improve this game.
If you have other idea's, just post them or discuss them.

PS: Sorry for my bad english

I noticed that there's a church in Rivacheg near where you find the Strange Helmet and Greatsword.  Maybe the developers had meant to include religion but changed their minds?

the biggest WHINING (It is whining, deal with it) reason for no religion is people will be offended.

Oblivion. Morrowind. Fable. Fable II. Daggerfall. Total War series. ****! Even gothic!

All these high grossing, well selling, and cult games have religion. I see no one (who matters) offended by oblivion including fake religions (PLURAL! MEaning they have MUTIPLE well fleshed out religions) same goes for total war using realistic/real religions.

I support to have option playing as religion type of charachter and doing religion related quests...

Absolutely!  It would be a great way to gain Honor, and interacting with churches would mean a whole slew of new uses for Honor (I mean, what is it good for anyway?)

A church or monastery would be a great village improvement too.  Maybe you can quick-heal your party there or raise your relation to that village or both.

Well, because they were protected underthe Pax Dei during the Tenth and Eleventh Centuries, monasteries were the place to take your wounded.  It was neutral ground and the monks often were very good healers.

I would be a great to have that system implanted in the game.

Does someone already know if there will be a new version before MB2?

And what his content is?

I think it's an interesting idea to add religion into this game I got a mod that made the Swadians a order like the Knights Templar. I like the idea of making it bigger, but then you would have to add a lot of other things. Like what if someone is an atheist (In the game.) and how would other people view it and stuff, I think it was really bad to not believe in god back in the day. Stuff like that is the only thing I see being a problem here.

No quick heal (NO to all supernatural!!!)
I would rather see, that your heavy wounds will get there, so you wouldnt be injuried anymore, but that would take some time...

No one (At least openly) was athiest back then.

1. It was to dangerous to be
2. People were to ignorant to accept anything but anyone elses word. So unless you had religion (Their religion) someone would eventually call you out as a demon/warlock.blasphemer/nonbeliever at any point in time (As they did even when you DID have religion)

Now.. how much heed you pay to your god of choice (Elvis, Van Halen, Richard Bassheart(MST3K Reference :p) should effect morale bonuses, and have both + (to profits and such) and - (Morale, losing out on ability to convert enemy captives easier, the loss of slight battle advantage over certain enemies) This could also open doors to the swadians getting 1 Female lord who could be an altered version of St Joan (No, not super warrior joan, she would have more leadership then personal abilities) as well as open doors to actual mini stories of subterfuge and so forth, as well as alternate ways to rule calradia and give this game more depth/background.

Okay, that's a lot about religion, but what about the other things, like tittles you getn when you join a faction, example:

You join the Nords and the first tittle you get is "knight" with the privilege of owning a small piece of land that you costumize(build).
and how more you do for the faction how more you advance in rank => baron, owning a village and have the right to vote in political debates.

Of course each faction will have tittles that are affected with their culture.

1. You could get away with being a sceptic/atheist if you were:
a) too poor and insignificant to matter
b) so powerful that not even the Pope dared to call you out on it.  For the latter case, look to this magnificent bastard:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_II,_Holy_Roman_Emperor

2. People were no smarter or dumber in the Middle Ages than they are today, and the importance of religion has been overstated by all but the most recent modern historians.  Yes, the Church (with a capital "C") was very powerful but the state was still paramount because, let's face it, the Church couldn't protect you from those marauding Vikings or the damn dirty Magyars.

The church had divine sponsorship, and tried to keep things remotely peaceable early on.  It was important in every day life because it was a source of belonging.  It gave hope and a reason to hope (a god being a god and all).  Charismatic church leaders helped build communities.  There's plenty of good and bad instances of the Church all over.  Generally speaking, it began as a powerful Political body.  It was one way, and it was their way.

Remember my maxim when observing history:  Science and Religion are the prime tools of Politics.

Yes, depth and immersion has to be added, if there is ever going to be a M&B 2. Also some additional strategy and kingdom management, so we get all the FPS whore/d00ds out of the m&b scene
