What are your favorite weapons for yourself and for your companions?

I've tried a lot of them and found a lot that I like enough to have a hard time claiming that any one of the is the "best", different ones have the edge for different uses.

My Weapons:
Right now the one I use most is the Heavy Great Long Axe (56c damage 127 reach). It's great from horseback and at the top of siege ladders.

I've found most any lance works well for me...right now I have a  Balanced Heavy Lance equipped but I often swap it out for a Balanced Double-Sided Lance which I like because it's fast enough that I can get a thrust in with it when one of the idiot AIs runs in front of my couched lance (every charge it seems).

One-handers I carry but rarely use except against ambushers or when I get unhorsed. I like Balanced Military Picks a lot (34p damage 100speed 70 reach) for the piercing damage but since most of the time it's not really necessary I often use a sword for looks.

Companions' Weapons:
Fighters I equip with Heavy Morningstars, Huscarl Shields, and Siege Crossbows. The Morningstars (40p damage 93speed 85reach) have enough reach to be useful on horseback and if their shield breaks in a siege they just become harder hitters. I give them Siege Crossbows so that they won't use them on horseback (and I can save the Horse Archery points).

Support characters I equip with  Balance Long Arming Swords (36c/31p damage 99speed 105 reach) or Balanced Elite Scimitars (35c 103 speed 103 reach), Huscarl Shields and Light Crossbows. I label support companions as 'archers' and leave them back from the thick of the fighting. Light Crossbows and those long reach swords allow them to be defend themselves from horseback even tho they are not very formidable.

My favorite weapon is the two handed cleaver, good attack power and no stabbies, which I don't care for. I give my companions heavy military hammers for prisoners.

Bastard Sword and Lance.

And throwing daggers...they're  useful when someone's mid to close range, right before they can get you with a melee weapon.  Plus there's a satisfying "thunk" when the point meets their skull.

I love my balanced hafted blade, 153-reach version. It's great on horseback against enemy cavalry, I feel.

I carry a heavy iron battle axe and shield for a more defensive approach.

Balanced Long Awlpike. Murderous from range and can be used to get prisoners by doing the overhead attack if people get too close. Also makes a wonderful sound when lodged through peoples skull.

Why bastard sword?
Use it with shield, long arming sword is better.
Use it without shield, any 2 handed weapon is better.

Compare to long arming sword, the best bastard sword without shield only have 42 damage, while long arming have 37 with same range and bit faster speed.

Bastard always looked cool imo the fact you hold them in one hand the swing with two just look awesome. But i rarely use them. My favourite gear is a masterwork light crossbow + steel bolts and one handed battle axe + huscarl round shield and a spirited courser

Heavy lance + custom sword, 28 cut, 26 pierce and 100 reach and speed

I use almost the same setup for me and my companion

Only bit different in one handed battle axe vs masterwork military cleaver
Is it a good idea to give one handed battle axe (short weapon) to mounted companion? Do they still can hit enemy? Or weapon length doesn't matter at all for mounted troop?

I do believe shorter weapon is better for dismounted troop especially in siege.

Heavy great long axe
2 large bag of khergit arrows
masterwork war bow

Companions' weapons vary, but lances are the most common.

Balanced Warspear.
My all time favorite weapon.
Speed, damage, unstoppable.

This and the Masterwork Nomad bow. Speed and hitting power combined.

I like any of the following one handers:

Morningstar
Long Arming Sword (balanced preferably)
Balanced Military Pick
Balanced spiked mace?  I can't remember the name, but it's a mace with like... 31 blunt, 100 speed or something like that.  Basically you trade 2 damage for a lot of speed compared to those hammers.

For lances, I prefer the balanced light lance

I've tried a lot of ranged stuff, but I don't think horse archery is worth the investment, and I think you get a lot of bang for your buck with just a masterwork siege Xbow + 3x bolts during sieges.  You also get a lot more versatility with your stats when you only need 9-12ish agility.

As far as two handed weapons and two handed polearms go, I like a lot of different stuff, but the most powerful ones would be:

Mounted:
Heavy Great Long Axe
Masterwork Sword of War
Heavy 2h mace - though I find it noticeably less adaptable than the previous two

On the ground/sieges:
Great Long Bardiche
Balanced Iron Staff

My favourite weapon is the Balanced Long Arming Sword.  I'm primarily a melee fighter and I find that its balance of reach, speed, and power suits the way I fight very well.

My next favourite is the Balanced lance. I used to use the heavy lance because it had a longer reach but I've come to like the speed of the regular lance.

Favourite ranged weapon has to be the War Bow. Its a good weapon whether I'm on foot or mounted and has a great rate of fire for the damage it does.

Honourable mentions:
Siege Crossbow- I'm not a huge fan of crossbows but I find them better in sieges involving rhodocks or swadians as they don't drop any arrows for my war bow.

Balanced Pole Axe- On occasion when I'm fighting on foot I like to have a two handed weapon. I like this one because besides looking cool it levels up skill in polearms.

For my companions I just give them a heavy morningstar as the AI seems most competent with one handers.

Bad choice with the morningstars, they get a speed and damage reduction when used with 1 hand and IIRC they cant crushthrough if you use them with a shield, same goes with bastard swords. 2 handed weapons get a speed and damage (?) reduction when used on horse back.

I'll add masterwork light crossbow when I played cavalry and crossbow and masterwork long arming sword before I added that custom sword.

Differs from game to game.

If I play as archer, I prefer the stong war bow and a 2handed cleaver or this 2handed mace (forgot the name) which mamlukes have too.

If I play as knight, I pick balanced long awlpike, some short range 1h axe and some blunt like the balanced iron staff, which does not only have an overhead strike like the awlpike, and a huscarl shield. In a siege, the 2 polearms get replaced by a siege crossbow and bolts.

If I play as footsoldier, I pick a long range 1,5h like the morning star or club with spike, and 2 stacks of heavy throwing axes which will be used as short range melee weapon too, and a huscarl shield.

If I try something new, I try something new.

Actually, that's not totally true.

There's a 15% speed and damage penalty for using a 1h / 2h weapon one handed.  When using a 2h weapon one handed (on horseback) it's closer to 35%.  So it's roughly on par with using a military pick damage wise - but you get extra range.  Here's the other couple of things that make morningstars great - since they are lower speed, they gain a lot more from momentum.  Slower weapons stay in their sweet-spots longer, and can get anywhere from 10% (on foot) upwards towards 100% more momentum damage multipliers (compared to faster weapons) if you're moving towards the target.

Also, you're wrong about 'crush through.'  On horseback, it's almost guaranteed, provided you have enough momentum.  I don't think words do it enough justice, I'd have to ask you to try it yourself and see - it really works wonders.

Balanced long awlepike, shield, Crossbow & Bolts.

But When I'm not going for range I loose the crossbow and change it for a sword. prefferably a bastard sword. I can still hide behind a shield until I get close then go for the 2 hander spam. The bastard sword is the fastest two hander there is.

I vary my equipment according to what faction I want to align with, but my general favourite weapons are the great long axe and the siege crossbow of the highest quality I can't find and afford, for the large amounts of damage and relative ease of use.

You had me at Heavy Long Axe, that thing is a beast. Swiping people on your horse and charging a castle with your axe in the air. Good times good times.

Once you use Heavy Morning Star there is just no turning back. Once you figure out how to get enough momentum to get crush through almost every swing you just starts crying of joy. It's PLOW TIME!
