Favorite Weapon Type

Just wondering what weapon types you all are focusing on. I've been using lances pretty much since I started, since I was a cleric and my starting weapon, the staff, counts as a polearm. It's really fun getting that couched lance lined up juuust right for a 100 point hit.

Ranged combat is loads of fun, too, but I just don't find it to be as effective.

I'm still not that high level....only just started using lances/couched and they do seem rather nice I have to say

I vote none of the above! Thrown weapons are where it's at. Strong of arm, sharp of eye, and there's honestly nothing cooler than landing a javelin in some poor sods head.

As far as I'm concerned, two-handed axes while mounted are the way to go.

I use my heavy fighting axe (1 handed) and mounted archery with my warbow.

I havnt tried 2 handed weapons much, but they seemed too slow.

I normally use a military hammer, but I've just discovered the joys of a lance although I find my horse get's KO'd more often when using one (maybe I just parry more with a hammer).

I also use a Khergit bow.

I had to pick crossbows. Not the best long term weapon, but you gotta love the damage and accuracy you can get out of them with no skill investment. Nothin better than getting headshots on three guys in a row before their even close to you. Got a 6.8 difficulty headshot on a guy from wayy away with crossbow. Granted, it was my third shot at the guy, but you cant beat that kind of accuracy (had to aim way above him, lol, and he was stationary - dumbass trying to throw javelins at me, a bug that was fixed in 6.23).

Great for getting rid of pesky mounted units, thinning the enemy lines as they approach you, and one good headshot before you rush them.

Also funny when you give one to both borcha and marnid - just you three attacking enemy with crossbows, not many enemys get close. And you gotta hate those swadian crossbowmen. Ive been downed in one headshot from a distance by a straggler that I didnt see.

One handed+bow.

Why? It has style, and that's all that counts!

EDIT: i think it would be good to be more precise. One handed BLADES and long, kick-ass looking, bows.

And i'd never use a bad looking sword such as a scimitar, although it seems to be the best sword out there... my vote goes for the saber, for her elegance and... other reason, its similarity to a "certain" other kind of weapons above all.

After all, to quote my character: "if you can't win with style, why bother?"

Two-handed axes in general as my preferance though one of my chaps is running around with a a delicious scimitar which is relatively long, quick and delivers 30c damage. Of course these are all very effective on horseback, on the ground I tend to prefer a combination of bow and a good double-handed sword (so that you can have 2 quivers).

Sabre + crossbow.

Just gotta love galloping towards a enemy, fire off a shot of the crossbow at him, and then clean him up with the drive-by slash.

Crossbows are better then bows IMHO because I can spend the points I would put to power draw to power hit.

1 handed spear on horseback, and shield + throwing axe for backup.

Its fun walking backwards with a bunch of guys chasing you whiling you are picking them off one at a time with an axe to the head....with the only one smart enough to bring a shield ever reaching you.

Of course....they aren't good when you have a group melee going....I usually wind up killing my own guys because they decided it'd be fun to jump in the way of my axe.

Plus, axes get bonus damage gainst shields too.

At level 22, I'm carrying throwing axes, a Great Lance, a Scimitar, and a shield. I usually just charge and break things up a bit with the lance, then once it turns into a furball get out the scimitar and shield and start swinging. Seems to work pretty well...the lance is also good for running down stragglers at the end of a fight.

I run around with a one-handed mace.
I use a crossbow from time to time (mainly to try and peg off archers or when I'm bored).

also, whats the best one-handed weapon in general (kind subjective with tradeoff btw speed/reach/dmg) but whatever.

My heavy fighting axe does 36c dmg and has aprox ?92 speed, ?94 reach.

The heavy military hammer is the best one I've found, it only does 25b damage but it is fast and has a good reach so you can really pound some heads

I like the two handed Sword of War. Ultra sexy, and powerful enough for my tastes.
