That awlpike is a POS on horse back. Great on foot though.

Shouldn't it be the other way around? Awlpikes > All other lances save for Hafted Blade on horseback IMO, because of the ridiculous damage and speed.

I disdain the use of all the pole arms in open field battle on horse back because of my playing style and also the difficulty level I'm playing. I'm always in the thick of the battle surrounded by at least 4-5 enemy elite troops to draw enemy away from my elite cavalry so close hand combat weapons are my weapon of choice. With pole arms on horse back and if you are surrounded by enemy elite infantries (sometimes you miss the edge of the enemy troops because they just shift the formation so you land right into the center and they close in real quick), that's a dead wish. The awlpike as with many other pole arms, you can't swing on horse back and you have to be precise to give it a good jab. That's fine if you are running in with a few enemies on horse back and you can get away after that but if you are trapped especially surrounded by enemy infantries, a close hand combat weapon is more suitable to get out with some injuries. And isn't that  fun?

On foot during siege, at least since you have the initiative to attack and some of your troops are around so you can maneuver some rooms to use the weapon. Carrying a second weapon is bothersome because I need extra slot for arrows for siege's purpose and I tend to forget what I am carrying so my standard weapon is always a 2 hands weapon, 2 arrow bags and 1 bow.

The heavy 2 hands bardiche is great just because the sound of a broken shield is sounded like a music to me.

I can't disagree more.

First off, IMO horseback fighting is not about charging into the thick, but about trying to break enemy formation and spear someone in the back, for which the awlpike is massively useful.

Second, in sieges, smaller is better, given the distinct lack of space. I do agree with the sentiment about a great bardiche though - in my last siege, I ran out of arrows, stole a great bardiche from a Vaegir, and systematically did horrible things to anyone who got to the top of the ladder.

As I said, it's my playing style, charging into the thick with 2 hands weapon. It's fun producing curses that way, my way mind you, not the boring stabbing someone in the back and running away which I did very often when I was a newbie. And quite a few Spirit & Champion Chargers losses too.

On siege (attacking castle or town, not defending them as you seem to imply), it's not small space if you can sneak around to the back of your enemy troops (which most often than not, you can't, hence my often expletive remarks "oh, sh**", but very rewarding if you make it).

Techincally, it's a polearm/2-handed but I called it a 2-hander since that's all I use anyway.
