War cleavers are for unwashed barbarians and Rhodoks.

Says the faction supporter ruled by a king who never leaves his castle.
But when he does, he kicks ass.
And he does leave his castle, or at least in my games.

In one of my more successful playthroughs, I managed to get Harlaus out of the castle by telling him basically "Yo, there's a castle worth taking over there. Care to join me?" That plus 22 relationship = we got into a fight with 500 Rhodoks the next day and our side was triumphant.

Trufax.

Gentlemen?

Bow+Lance+OP Two-handed.

My tactic for infantry: Get behind them, telll your people to charge while they're distracted. And getting shot in the nuts.

After the initial charge, get your lance up and support your troops. Or boop them.
I'm gonna boop your face. *Boop* LOL

If your horse dies/you're pinned/sieges, get your two-handed out and kick ass.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH.

P.s.: Ze bow is also good for people with faster horses than yours.

I don't function well in melee without a shield, so one handed. They also tend to be faster, and need less room.

I can't decide which I like least in Tourney, lances or javelins. Both are quite useless for me there.

While I frequently play archer in multiplayer, I virtually never do in single - makes it problematic when I get stuck with a bow in tournaments, especially since you can't block with the dagger in melee. I particularly hate it when it's a 1v1 round of me with a bow against a 1h/shield AI

I find that lances aren't bad at all in tournaments, so long as you don't get unhorsed without a nearby melee weapon to pick up.

you can still chamber block with a dagger, I've won against a 2 handed swordguy that way

I prefer onehanded axes and shield but to be honest I get the most kills with archery during sieges and the long awlpike on field battles.

The awlpike is.. just a mix between a great sword and a pike. It's just that great.

I like to use long arming sword and long awe pike. use heavy crossbow and war hammer when protecting my city. heavy crossbow+ a shield when seige

More like an extra-thick rapier and a spear, IMO. Not that it doesn't rock - the moment I see that weapon I was like "It's Eliwood time all over again".

It doesn't fail to deliver.

I'm still a huge fan of the versatility of the hand and a half weapons.  The ability to use the shield when needed, but quickly and easily switch back and forth to 2 hands when you have back shots open is great.
The bastard sword has a nice reach, but really any of the 3 of them work well.

That being said, I'm super-psyched because after a long search of many weapon smiths, I finally have a Jousting Lance - couched blunt damage ftw!

For ranged, it all depends on build.  My first time I was working on the leadership skills first, so I stuck with the nice, simple crossbow (and make sure you get the biggest one you can handle for sieges).
If you are a tournament whore, then bow is probably best.  If you happen to get a thrown, you can always use it as a pole weapon.
This time around, I've gone with thrown, just because I like having the extra slot open for a lance.

I voted 1 handed since there is no one/two handed option.

Early game I either like short swords or something that swings quickly or a heavy military hammer (slow but can't beat the damage + prisoners) mid game I switch over to a 1 or 2 hander like a bastard sword or morning star.

I say lance is most useless, I have actually dropped my lance and picked up a single javelin and used it in mele mode to move on.

That awlpike is a POS on horse back. Great on foot though.

Shouldn't it be the other way around? Awlpikes > All other lances save for Hafted Blade on horseback IMO, because of the ridiculous damage and speed.

I absolutely love playing the 2 handed axe mad man viking warlord on the field.
