Veteran
Hey, just curious as to what everyone's favorite unit/warrior is in the game and why. Personally I love the Swadian Knights. Firstly, because they look fearsome . And also, because they handle very well against infantry when in groups of 10+. This is particularly useful against the Rhodoks because their armies are almost fully composed of foot soldiers. I still have yet to test their skills against the Sarranids and Khergit (hope I didn't murder those two names). The only bad thing about them is their upkeep cost, which really takes a toll when you are not making income from any fiefs.

Forest Bandits and Sea Raiders equally.

Sea Raiders are great because they've got it all... nice equipment, chance for throwing weapons/bows/shields, and really cheap upkeep.
Best value for money I think.

Forest Bandits are neat to stick in your castles because they're so cheap but not completely useless (like peasants).
Plus, if they die you can pick up their arrows in case you run out. Win-win.

I love the Rhodok Sharpshooter.

They've got powerful crossbows, and can double as decent infantry in a pinch.

My favorite Native unit is the Vaegir Veteran. Certainly not the best infantry out there and the chance to spawn with a horse is annoying as that completely throws off my tactics where Cavalry and Infantry must be separate, but they're reliable and can usually get the job done.

With my custom troop line in-game, my favorite becomes my Karyulk Warrior. He has a steppe horse, a light lance, a saber, a light bow, and a lamellar vest. Great for attacking weakened lord parties as they hit hard and move fast, but terrible in sieges and in heavy weight fights between faction armies.

My favourite units are the slavers, every single one of them... they pay their own salary by giving you a ton of prisoners to sell after each battle. Blunt weapons for the win.

For vanila, I go for the Kaergit horse archers, as they suit my play stile a lot.

As for customs, and throing my rifle men out, It would my nord pikemen, armed with awlpikes, nord footman helmets, coat-of-plates of various designs, mail kitens and mail boots, they hold a line againsh almost any tipe of enemy.

However, the most versitile would probably be my custom swadian looters, wich can spaw with armor from any faction ranging from the sarranid desert outfit to the mail skirt and all weapon tipe, from 2H to pikes, passing through the 1H + shield, bows and crossbows. All of them cary eiter Javelins, short/hunting bows or ligth/hunting crossbows. They can suport any army by taking out their weaknesses (for the most part).

Will post screens later. I would also encourage people to post screens of any custom troop they talk about, so ppl know what they are speaking of.

Huscarls and Khergit horse archers (if only the AI could avoid charging into the enemy).

My favorite as well for much the same reasons.  I think these are the most versatile unit out there, which makes them adaptable to almost any engagement.  I also have a soft spot for Sarranid Skirmishers, though.  I think for their cost, they are fantastic units that get lucky shots on heavy cavalry units - I just wish the entire line of Sarranid ranged units stayed throwers instead of mediocre-at-best archers.

Finally, while I like the way Nord Huscarls take advantage of the good and bad points of the A.I., they are a little too strong to really have fun with.

Rhodok sharpshooters. I have almost 60 of them in my standing army now. The problem is their wages ... they jump from 9 as a Rhodok Veteran/Trained [whatever the next-to-last tier is] Crossbowman to 24 as a Sharpshooter, meaning that they're costing me a thousand or so each week.

"Calradian Dismounted Knights" are my favorits, thay are offcors not native units but my own made units but I love them like I wold love my own child

Give me a bunch of Nord Huscarls and I'll build you a kingdom.

Other than that I also really like Sword Sisters, but they are very hard to get.

Vaegir marksmen > Rhodok sharpshooters in the field
Not in my experience.

Also, Swadian knights. Absolute monsters on the field and in siege; I rarely bother with infantry, and just dismount them if I want inf.

my favorites got to be the farmer, why? the dude has a sickle or hatchet or rocks n he runs up to knights n trys to kill them, thats a hero lol

im going to have to agree with tankmen on this one.  Farmers are real men.

Im also quite fond of Nord recruits, they make me smile.

Nord archers. Altough I play as a horseman these days, but hell, who can resist the charisma of the archers? It's like MC Hammer says:

"can't touch this!" --> (i'll put an arrow in your head before you can.)

After increasing the proficiency of every single ranged unit in game by 30 points, archers have become my favorite. I am currently running with a 18 man party of half infantry (mostly Nord Warriors) and half archers (Nord Archers, and my companions) and my infantry often don't do anything against bandits. My archers annihilate any unshielded troops, and do a hefty bit of damage even to shielded troops. I'll release my infantry from their line once the enemy starts to break and fall apart, and they can then finish the job.
