Usually a cav with a polearm like a long lolpike or war spear and a long arming sword. But some of the time I like to go infantry, in which case I have a 2 handed sword such as the Sword of War.

I usually like a "leader" style character developing mostly INT and CHA and leadership skills -- party skills I outsource to my heroes.  I usually try to stay all mounted in the party for speed in map view.

Since I am not a front-line fighter as a rule I invest in armour and ranged weapons.  In battles I will often use some sort of charger and polearm, though in my current build I am trying without the polearm -- previously I reserved my bow and arrows in the baggage for siege use only.

I make most of my dinars by trading and ransoming lords and other prisoners.  When I can I set-up businesses in towns I do.  My treasury is holding around 60K dinars pretty reliably.  Whenever I loot or buy decent stuff it all get's trickled-down through my party so my heroes are pretty-well equipped with hand-me-downs.

Here is my current character at turn 456:
CarmenGittsum-Day456.jpg

Carmen Gittsum? Lately I've been working on characters that are female, seems to be more advantages for the way I play as I usually don't join a faction until I have over 700 renown or so and bandits stop leveling me up so quickly. For the first part I go around with a party of around 10 people fighting bandits if I am playing footman, and solo when I am playing someone on a horse. I always play a fighting character because by day 300 I can usually be at the stats that I need, have all the businesses, and the equipment that I need, I get all the money from fighting bandits and selling loot (obviously), trading, and looking for lords to give me the collect taxes quest. Then after I have that and all the bases covered I work on getting a couple of companions up to 30 int to cover the party skills and training, then I work on getting intelligence up to max my other skills and get some like trainer and inventory management, and because I play it nooby like and use a really small battlesizer I really don't need the leadership because I have a party size of around 50 or more from charisma and then work on training small elite armies to fight with me.

So far this works well for me and I've never had major problems with any part of it, lately I've been slowly raising the difficulty and working on getting used to it. Also adding an elite line of weapons under the name "Elven" these will have amazing stats, be very light, and cost somewhere around 13k for the cheapest piece, that being a bag of arrows, these are meant to be end game items and are quite unreachable at early stages. They aren't at later stages though as I have modded businesses so that dye works give me around 900 denars a week and with one in every town, except for those sequestered, I make around 20k a week which adds up quickly if I don't have very many expenses, such as three highly elite garrisons of around 150 men that cost more than the towns they garrison make.

I like my "heavy great long axe" because it has alot of range and power and when on a horse hacking people is what i do. because when i get the speed bonus, i one shot everything but the very top tier units (like knights) and because i need a ranged weapon i have a "masterwork light crossbow" with "steel bolts", i am mostly on my "hunter" and this is how i play.

this is what i did in the original and it worked good, it also works good in warband. try it, nutin like one shotin everything.

i now have a charger. . .

And are better off for it, now get back to work and  stop talking to me before I call another feast...

I play what I call a "Lord" style character. Personal skills and leadership skills only. Sarranid warhorse, big shield that I can still use on horseback, heavy bastard sword, looking at a voluge for sieges, bow and arrows for sieges, the best good looking armor that I can afford-preferably with heraldry, and leave the party skills to Jeremus and Yimera.

yes King Graveth (i have lvl4 athletics)

I don't play vanilla, just mods, and it depends on the mod how I'm playing. In the current "realistic" mod I use I play as an Irish humble fighter and later mercenary captain, with simple cloth and mail armour, walking mostly barefooted. I use typical weapons, javelins and sword or axe, fighting as light cavalry. My comrades are equipped similarly. In a fantasy mod that I equip my comrades in line with their culture, as horse archers or heavy cavalrymen. I myself use handguns and lance. My comrades and I are not the "killas", but have the main purpose to catch enemy attention and in this way protect my infantry. In many battles my comrades and I are gutted, it hurts but my infantry have usually very few losses.

Horses are overrated

I play a heavy infantry soldier with generally the same gear Hired blades use down to the swords and shields, ( Long arming sword i believe. ) Only difference between me and a hired blade is the throwing weapons i have in my two leftover slots. My armies generally exist out of hired blades and mercenary crossbowmen and, if you put them in proper lines you'd be surprised how much destruction you can bring down onto enemies.

Nice, I like the foot soldier type, I just really need to work on blocking in melee..

Good thing about hired blades is that if you lose 10 of them you can replace them by roaming taverns. I make it a point to visit every tavern i pass and check for mercenary units anyway

Also, this may be a bit of a 'exploit' but if you have a strong PC and you put your battlesizer to 500 ( Like i have ) Attacking a castle with 400 soldiers in it with just 100 hired blades ( resulting in the defending force sallying out to attack ) You will most likely win the battle, and only have a few leftover enemy soldiers to deal with afterwards  (( Losses are anywhere between 10-20% of your soldiers killed in action, more wounded. Depends on your luck / skills and the amount of enemy archers  ))

Use Swadian Sergeants then! They're not as powerfull as Knights (so it will be harder for you to win battles), but they look great and have Morningstars!

swadian lord dan 说:
yeah but if im fighting khegits im going to have a bit of trouble with just sergeants
Get good pathfinding and such, then go against them only in sieges.

Khergits are very weak in high mountains. It's good to lure them there if possible.
