i was thinking it would be quite cool if you were able to cross breed horses and able to buy farms that would give you pay in a way similar to wages.

i dont know much about modding and i would like to make this mod i just dont have the skill though i am trying to learn.

(btw i have been looking on the forums for 2 months or so just never posted)

You can do owning farms, stables, shops etc very easily. Breeding would be more difficult, maybe impossible.

To do owning just go into dialogs.txt and add a new dialogue with a character who sells you the farm. Create a new variable(s) that tracks if you own a farm, how many you own, how long you've owned it etc.

Then a new dialogue saying "I've come to collect my profits". The NPC can ask a second question eg "from which farm/business?". Then simply you use the reg(x) = $variable to say how much profit you've collected based on the business type and the number of days since your last visit and reset it to zero.

Try it out. Practice is the only way to learn.

Thinking about it some more you could also do it in "game_menus.txt" (module_game_menus.py).

You could create new 'towns' on the map (module_parties.py) that represent the farms (you would need new icons - module_map_icons.py) and when you reach them a 'town menu' comes up like for any town but with different options. Eg you could upgrade the farm (new fields, buildings), change the crops, put more men at work (taken away from youir army) or the opposite take farmers into your army etc.

That would be more realistic and easier than talking to an NPC in Zendar.

that was actually my plan, i also thought it would be cool if u had to recruit gaurds to defend it.

Edit: i also thought it would be cool to add mines and fishing villages and also just buying land to genrally tax it. plus being able to set up guilds which would attract low lev units and slowely upgraded them..would that work?

that a lot to mod for background in a game!

As to the horse breeding, it might seem really unrealistic time wise. You could have horses bred to add the Heavy, or other attributes... I don't know how to handle the equations, but I'm sure there is room in the game to do that somewhere...

If you havn't then I suggest you check otu the stickies in the suggestions forums, there are some good arguments over farms etc.

arg, kicked in the nuts at the first hurdle and i need some help as to why im getting this error everytime i save after moding the dialog

Hemo, maybe you should use the Python Module system. It isn't very difficult to use.

breeding could be doable, but you would have to create an item for every single breed that you want to be possible.. then play with lots of variables, triggers, and dialogues/menus to implement it.
