Why are they walking around the cities? Are they doing something useful by being out of city? The possible answers that come to my mind are maybe they produce valuables used in merchant, maybe they increase population growth rate of the city by farming, maybe...maybe...maybe they just want someone comes and kill them. i dont know, do you have any ideas?..

Haven't you ever watched Gunsmoke or Bonanza? Farmers are always going into town to buy supplies. Or they might be trying to sell some livestock, and maybe they just went to the fort because they were being chased by Darkhunters and they needed a drink.

They seem to me just to be targets for attack by dark hunters.

Yeah, why do dark hunters always seem to go for the farmers and refugees?

As strong as they are, I don't think I've ever seen them fighting the Vaegirs or the Swadians.

They're just a bunch of cowardly bullies, and someone needs to stand up to them!

It's because dark knights grow out of beanstalks. the peasants are performing nature rituals to encourage the magic beanstalks to grow, and out of the beanstalks grow dark knights and hunters, armor and all. The dark knights and hunters subsequently attack the peasants for growing them with crappy horses.

I think green areas in the map except cities include some villages and farms. But they are not seen. And farmers do farming and travel to cities to sell their products. But sometimes unfortunately they are killed by bandits or dark hunters. Just my opinion...

 Too true!

Doesn't matter what they ride...a Balanced Great Axe kills 'em all in one swing...

Had fun with that yesterday, got caught by a Vaegir War Party on the tale end of one of my legendary Caravan raiding jaunts...poor bastards thought they were going to get some payback...nope, just a lotta dead horses and pin-cushioned Knights, and that was even after I tried to level the playing field by fighting on foot...granted, I was on a wooded cliff...but still...

Would love to see some farms that were a hybrid between towns and battle maps. Upon reaching one on map you might get options to "Raid_Farm" or "Visit_Barn". Raid farm would throw you into combat with a 'garrison' of farmers/whatnot on a nicely modelled farm area (farmhouses, fields, orchards etc), while visiting barn would allow you to trade with the farmer (tools for food perhaps).

Along this sort of concept, also like the idea of having "Hunting Grounds" where can go to hunt bears/deer/etc for furs and meat. Not all armies can manage time out to venture into town for food, after all. For playability though, I think hunting grounds would best work as one man vs the wild.

Of course, if wild animals were brought into the game, it might prove interesting to run across a grizzly around the corner of a valley, wounded, with six knights on your tail
