Family at Start

I thought I read somewhere in the dev blog that you could customize your family at start (eg. adding a sibling in your party), will this feature be added to the game?

I'm not far into it yet but you do start off with siblings. Not very customizable at the moment though. Perhaps we'll get more options eventually. I wish there was a sandbox mode, would be nice to at least pick my starting area.
