There goes Fallout's legacy... to oblivion.
Well luckily I was prepared for this; They already said it was going to be 1st person and 3d.

No PC version? Maybe it is time to sabotage XBox production and distribution. After all, violence is the best solution to problems.

It has already been announced for PC. (The article is behind the  emoticon).

I gave up on Fallout 3 as soon as Bethesda picked it up.

Not only are Bethesda poor at the whole quirky humour thing, but most of the humour in the original games was written by a Brit. It therefore follows that the game will follow the standard model for American translation of British humour. Expect removal of all political incorrectness, inclusion of token female (and/or members of relevant ethnic minorities) increased stereotyping and emphasis on puns, gags and slapstick to make up for the wrecking of the script.

It's a sad to day to be alive.

 WHYYYYYYY???
This indeed a sad day to be alive... I lost all hope with Bethesda because of the sad thing that is oblivion...
And making Fallout 3 a console game means it will be first made to fit the console and then just port it to the computer, it is ALWAYS like that.
My hatred for consoles will only grow now.

That is completely true (not too say that, if done really really well the american way can be good, however, i have not seen a game that is, yet )

>_> Am I the only one who doesn't give that much of a damn? The only thing I want is a little more attention for PC players. The menu based inventory/status/magic/etc. screens was the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Hello? What do you think the other 98 buttons on my keyboard are for?!

Oh, it could still be a great game, I just think it will lose it's unique charm. On the other hand, if Bethesda finally give us a decent Mad Max type game I'm not going to complain

I don't know. It could be a decent game still, just not the Fallout we know and love. Bethesda tend to produce decent games most of the time, I just worry that Fallout 3 will end up as Sea Dogs with post apocalyptic drag.

Other way around AFAIK. I'm not sure this is a problem though, the Xbox and the PC are becoming pretty much the same thing from a development point of view.

As long as they make combat fun, i have no complaints. If i have to do a ****ing power attack with a wrench to disarm my opponent by spinning in an arc, i will be mad.

Actually, Archonsod, it's usually console to PC. There are a few exceptions like Doom 3 and Half-Life 2, but it's that way around for the most part. I really don't know why.

At least, it's always that way with Ubisoft. And the PC games end up coming as buggy as hell.
However, I think Bethesda will do PC to console.

Don't worry, no one will have to see what they've done to fallout - no one will see anything past all the bloom.

Depends on the game, you'd be surprised at the amount of PC to console ports too. However, in this instance I was referring to the fact that Bethesda have already stated the game will be developed for the PC first, then ported over.
It's not a case of developing for one or the other. What usually happens is that the game is designed and released for the console or PC, then ported across if sales support it. The publisher will wait to see how well the game sells on it's native format before risking a conversion to a different market, unless of course there's a good reason to convert anyway (i.e. a similar game turns out to be a hit on a different format). When a game is developed simultaneously for mutliple formats then they will be restricted by the console, since it's the 'lowest denominator', though it doesn't necessarily mean that the developer won't look at what they can do with the release on a different format.

No matter which way it goes, you need to put a fair bit of work into it to make it work well on the new platform (eg, adjusting controls, adjusting the levels for the level of control's ect.(
