faith troops....how?

Users who are viewing this thread

hi all.

i set antarians as faction, and i am faithless (atheist).

now i read that antarians are strong in foot melee combat.......but i see that paladins are good if mounted, but on foot they use this huge lance that is ridicolous..and not useful to kill. honor guard have a sword (thank god, LOL) but no shield makes them die soo fast. i saw 2 hulskars do a MESS of my army, killing more than 10 of my troops alone! (i want hulskars!)
now i read that (at least) there is a "faith troop" ...that is VERY good in melee....an engineer or something like it.
how the hell get it? i have all improvements, i defeated 4 kingdoms, and right now there are few days left to legion invasion....i will need a decent army, not an army of sissies like this!

thanks!

EDIT: and...how get more "faith" ?

You must have honor guards with you in army. You must have religious buildings built and wait some time. Each building is generating some global faith, the more you have the greater chance that you will gate special event about one of your soldiers having visions (doesn't fit faithless but well...). If you chose an option "You can serve Me and The Temple" the troop will become Zealot, take him to a castle, you must have chapel there and talk to marshal aboout upgrading.

heh ok thanks for this explanation......but what are " faith building" ? for an " atheist " ?
i have honor guard...i must have them in my party or garrisoned in castle?

The faith buildings should be pretty obvious as their names tend to be different than "barracks" or "Merchant Guild".

Yeah. And you are not explicitely said it's a noble upgraded to faith troop. I let about five faiths go before I realised it

Jumping in on this. Surely been answered before, but I'm afraid I didn't find it:

I'm playing the Marinians, who seem to have some differences with their Knight Chapter having to be build in a Town. However I found something else related to that:

I've built two Chapels in Castles and two Churches and two Local Monasteries in Villages. However when I talk to my Chancellor, he reports that 0 people believe in my faith! Those buildings have been there for weeks. They should have converted people already (I noticed that in previous games). What's going on? Is this supposed to happen? According to the Building List, those Buildings should be adding to faith.

Some fiefs can start at -xx faith so it may take a while. I built about 20 monasteries and 5 temples and after around 100 days I only had about 500.

There are two numbers that the game tracks: Local faith & Global Faith.

The global number is what you see when you go to reports.  This is the number that affects how frequently you'll get the top-noble-has-visions event.  This number is a simple matter of having built religious institutions and time passing.  It grows forever.

The local number is simply a matter of what % of the local population is in favor of your religion.  Most villages and town will start out at a negative feeling towards your religion.  So nobody from those locations will believe in your faith.  It takes time for temples/chapels/monastery/etc to convince them of the ascendancy of your faith.  Once a given location's population has a positive feeling, then that % is "of your faith" - so, if 20% of a village of 100 peasants is favorable to your religion, then you have 20 believers there.  Add that total from all of your provinces, and you get the report that you see when you talk to your chancellor about your faithful.

Jason - does the above need to go in the FAQ?  Or is there something like this already?
