Faction quests... having a little trouble

I've recently ran across a couple missions that I'm having trouble with. 1.) Capture Vaegir nobleman in route from town A to town B. Well I spent a long time tracing the most conventional routes between the two and never found his party. I eventually got the message that he had reached town B and that I had failed the mission. Now that I've failed it, the quest is still in my log? Does this mean the quest will repeat until I complete it? Is there a penalty for failing?

2.) Hunt down a vaegir raiding party that has raided a village near town A before they return to their base in town B. Again I searched all around town A and town B and scoured the map between the two and still haven't found them. I haven't failed this one yet but I think defeat is immenant unless I can get some help.

I've ran into several quests like these and they seem more of a nuisance than anything else. I guarantee you that I could defeat any of their silly raiding parties if I could find the friggin things. Can someone help me out?

When I get those quests I just wait near the town that they are returning to
then sluaghter them  . I have had the quest stay in my log after I failed it but once I got another quest of the same kind it went away :???:

You should talk to the count you got the quest from to remove it from your quest log.

Welcome to the forums.

Okay so waiting at the town seems like a good option. What do you do about enemy warparties that stray by and attack you while you wait? Just kill them? If so it seems like it could take a long time to finish the quest due to the sheer number of enemies you'd have to kill...

Also I heard theres a way to speed up time on the map while you're waiting? i.e. press spacebar + something else?

I wait at the town he first emerges from, you get to him faster and more likely to fight in the light. I hate fighting at night and not being able to see properly.

Yeah, on the capture the noble quest, it is normally 2 days before he leaves the town giving you plenty of time to get there and rest.

Also be aware that these two types of party (nobleman and raiders) can be attacked/chased by outlaws and their opposing factions. This can take them a long way from the most obvious path and cause delays.

Example: Swadian Raiding Party leaves A heading to B. Vaegir War Party sees them and persues them all the way to the other side of the map (opposite direction to B), and there they have a long battle. While youre waiting at B, your target is on the other side of the map, limping away from near defeat.

There is a cheat to remove the fog of war, which you could use occaisionally to find that elusive party of bandits/nobleman/etc and get back to enjoying this great game.

You could always go to another town and get another quest, onetime I forgot all about a quest because I got angry but I ended up finishing it . The quests are just there to give you something to do besides just running around killing or being killed. Without any cheating if you press the space bar you will be un-paused and time moves along.

Quests also give you more money and additional XP for completing them. Also completing faction quests will get you promoted>higher wages.

For the nobleman quest: go to the town where he is supposed to start from. You have 2 days to get there, plenty of time. Wait and he'll emerge, then pounce on him. You will probably have to fight off various parties while you wait, though. If you fail the quest, talk to the noble that gave it to you and it will be cleared from your questlog

Raiding party quest: Get to the town of origin as fast as you can, if you can anticipate the route they took, go down that route. While you are on your way, look for tracks.. the party should number in the 40s or higher. Follow the tracks that lead towards the destination town and you should find them. You will catch up to them because they stop periodically and also chase other parties.
