Faction Elimination Timer

I had a quick question pertaining to this faction elimination timer that I've been reading about (if you manage to make a faction fiefless). How long does this timer take to kick into effect, and is there any way to tell if it's working or not?

The reason I ask is because I think I bugged my game. I completely destroyed the Swadians taking out all their fiefs and lords, but the faction relations page still says they have one active lords. The Rhodoks are still at war with them as well, and whenever I ride past Yalen, there are a half dozen lords "patrolling" the area, and when questioned, they say that the enemy has been spotted around there. Yet they never defeat this one Swadian Lord, nor can I even find him. I got fed up and used the cheat mode to reveal all the parties on the map, and it doesn't appear that he exists.

I may have bugged it earlier when Count Despin defected to my faction, and I told him to get lost (as he had some incompatible personality with the rest of my lords), causing him to return to Swadia...

What version of the game are you playing? If it is 1.143 then there is a bug where lords will respawn despite there being no fiefs and they just kinda sit there doing nothing in a party by themselves.

If that is the case then this can help you http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,112413.msg3305049.html#msg3305049 there is a text tweak in there to fix it however it wont work on your current game.

If it is 1.152 I don't know if that tweak will work (or even if the bug is still there). Otherwise sometimes it happens the next day, as soon as the lord is defeated, other times I have seen it go on for months in game.

Factions are eliminated once no fiefs or lord parties are found on the map for that faction. This is checked once every game-day.

As of 1.152, while lords still respawn if their faction has no fiefs (not kings though) they will be forced to defect away from that faction the next time they are checked for possible defection. This happens once every 3 days. Similarly, it can take up to 2 days after a lord is defeated and escapes from battle for that lord to respawn as a party on the map. So, within 5 days from defeat and escape you should see that lord defect away from the fiefless faction.

Once all lords have defected or are imprisoned, then within 1 game-day the faction will be declared defeated.

And the tweak that annallia posted, essential for 1.143-1.151 as there was no forced defection, will still prevent lords from respawning if fiefless in 1.152 if you'd rather that didn't happen.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. It looks like I'm stuck in a tight spot then. I started this particular game with 1.151 and I guess Steam auto-updated to 1.152, but I don't see any respawning Swadian lords anywhere, nor are there defections from their faction. In fact, lords from other factions that have been defeated are defecting to THEM, which I guess causes them to be caught in limbo because then they're nowhere to be found, and I can't even bribe them away using the minister + companion.

I'm also running Diplomacy 4.2, which is problem causing a host of it's own problems on top of it, since it hasn't been updated for the 1.15x series yet. Oh well. I guess I'll just "finish" off this game and start a new one.

This changes everything.
None of the faction defeat changes of 1.15x are going to in your Diplomacy 4.2 game, as it is built on 1.143. And Diplomacy 4.2 prevents defeated lords from being respawned, but doesn't address the faction defeat problems necessarily--though with them not respawning, there shouldn't be any parties on the map so it should get declared eliminated, so that is odd.

Right, thanks. I think I'll just be running on Native for a while then, give the modders a chance to update.
