I was playing as Southern Empire. We were at war with the Aserai, who were also at war with Northern Empire. The Northern Empire took a couple of Aserai settlements, but the settlement banner on the map did not change to Northern Empire, but instead retained the Aserai banner. However, the red/gray/green banner indicating enemy, neutral, or ally did change. It wasn't a big deal (just visually) until we went to war with the Northern Empire as well and then I couldn't tell which settlements belonged to which factions.
By the way, I started a new game after the 1.5.8 update.
Will provide a save file on request.
Scratch this. After verifying game files, it fixed itself on reload.
