Faction Addicted to Tournament Craze?

Hey all!

Well, my faction of Sarranids are in a bundle of mediocracy. We currently just have two cities, and though we are war with the nords, whenever our marshal wants to start a "campaign" to attack them, he just gathers a few vassals, and then immediately CANCELS the dam march! Really strange, but my current question is on tournaments!

So, we had a feast in a town of ours. I entered the tournament held during the time, and went about my business. I come about a few hours later, and ANOTHER tournament is happening! Compete in that one, wait about an hour or so, and then another one! Is there some new fad with the nobles and common peoples to have tourneys back to back, or is my game like glitched or something?

Thanks for any word on this!

Feasts are held by factions who have suffered defeats to raise relations with lords who have lost their fiefs.  Game is just trying to keep disgruntled lords from defecting.

Didn't anyone noticed that there is a bug in Native considering tournaments?

1. If you receive an information about the feast in a city go there immediately.
2. Join and Win the tournament (Increases your relation with te city)
3. Wait for any lord that comes to the city for the feast (every lord restarts the tournament)
4. Repeat points 2 and 3 until there are no more lords coming.

Theoretically you can increase your relation with te city by amount of lord coming for the feast.

This is how I get lots of money early game, find a place with a feast, and tournament grind till I have lots of money

But if you do it in a kerghit town or a swadian place you might be stuck with trowing weapons ..or a big fat greatlance. which are all good if you have a secondary weapon, but by themselves ..urgh I hate them

If the throwing weapon is a javelin/axe, you're fine, just activate the secondary weapon mode and use it as you would a spear/handaxe.

The lance can be a pain if your opponent is on horseback as you'll never get the distance to do a couched run (unless they start wall-humping).  Best I can advise there is to trot behind your opponent, turn fast and poke at their horse, it should only take a couple pokes to take the horse out and then you can outrun the guy on foot for a couched lance attack.

What I have huge trouble with is when I am given a bow + dagger and am facing opponent(s) with shield + 1-hander, I get off maybe 2-3 shots, which all are blocked by the shield, then I am in melee with a wepon that doesn't block...grrrr.  Whenever I am given the bow and there is more than one opponent I always try to grab the first melee weapon that gets dropped.

Don't know how much of a difference it makes but I am using the diplomacy OSP mod (was using Floris expanded but the tournament grounds where just too busy for my liking).

Tournaments are quite bull, given the disparity of equipment. You're bound to get butt****ed by random chance sooner or later, not to mention how the earlier rounds always results in cluster****s where you just have to hope your team comes through.

I would have loved proper jousting.

Everyone always seems to forget that you can take weapons from people you've already KOed. Sure, the throwing spears might not be ideal - but they only need to be good enough to take out someone with something you like better.

But in kherghit towns all you get is arrows and javs....EVERYONE gets that. also in praven sometimes people only get greatlances.

Ahhh, most interesting input! Thanks for the thoughts guys. I think my current situation may negate the problems with the constant tournaments, sooner or later, especially since they aren't as frequent. Got some lords to our side, and we're doing pretty decent now!

I'll keep this open for any other opinions or thoughts.

I was going to make a new thread for my question, but this one seems to be close enough.

I recently started my own kingdom and wiped out the Rhodoks.  In the process I picked up a few vassals and decided to have a feast to up my relations with them and win some tournaments to up my relation with what will be my main town(Veluca).  The problem is/was never ended.  I had seen the same thing happen before, and saw posts on this board about it, but the advise was always just to wait it out and it'd end eventually.  So I spent a long span joining the feast, talking to everyone, joining the tournament, wait until the next day, repeat.  I don't know exactly how long this went on but the quest expired so I'm guessing well over a month.  Is this how it's supposed to work?  The only way I can end the feast is by starting a new campaign.  Does the feast go on until you run out of food/oil/spice(I have TONS of all that)?

 Just saying a way I've seen people get a lot of money is do those things but save before each tournament so they bet the most they can and if they lose they can quit (depending on game mode) and just redo the tournament.
