Fact based speeds provided?

Can we provide the great M&B developer with real life speeds of horses and humans. Along with realistic fact based ratios relating the speed of forward movement with backwards and sideways movement .

With these facts we could build a chart showing the rate of speed increase for every level of atheltics and speed rating for horses.

If we do this I think we could even mod it in- play with it some and propose it to Arm. I think it would be much more productive than complaining.

Hehe - with the import/export feature, just modify your agility and athletics skills, and then don't worry about how fast fact is.

I love chasing down black kergit riders on horseback!!!

I thought we were going for REALISM here

Oh, realism - I apologize, I was thinking more of the fun of the game. That is what I enjoy. If I wanted real, I'd go buy a horse, and run around with it and then enjoy that.

Because you can do everything you can do in the game for the same amount of money by buying a horse and riding it!

Gameplay should always trump realism.
Well...yes. But come on, things like people runnign faster than horses is just...just...*insert any negative word here*. Unless it is missing 3 legs and goes by the name of Little Brudder.

And I can't see why would an unmounted warrior being faster than a horse be good for the gameplay anyway? If you want to get really fast buy a horse.

Gameplay should always trump realism, but 'fun' (which nowadays seems to mean any idea a borderline retarded 12 year old would want, like high explosive flaming arrows or daul giant axes) should be pretty much ignored. The ninjas in Rome: Total War might have been fun, but they were so utterly stupid that it was bad for the game. Much like gunning down all your enemies with a plasma rifle would be fun in M&B, but it would be bad for the game. I take a similar view towards outrunning horses on foot.

Hmm, in the army we had a few standard values for mobile infantry targets.
to jog 3 m/s and to sprint 6 m/s

Heh, I'm anything but a 'realism' freak...that was more of a joke (hence the  ) Seriously though, just because most enemies have crap speed horses and can't ride them for **** doesn't mean you can outrun a horse even in this version unless you crank up 20 athletics and prance around naked, which is ridiculous in the first place (and do I need to mention that people have been recorded to win races against horses in 'real life'??)

Haha...I have to agree.

The footies should dodge a fair amount, but outrunning a horse wearing platemail is pretty funny. Especially when while it may be possible for the best runners to outrun a horse over a short distance there is no way even they could keep that up long, let alone in full gear.
