Anybody played this yet? Incredible game, despite the pain of installing it and getting it to work. Quite literally had me jumping out of my seat in surprise at times. A dark room and a good speaker system is a must. Runs very well with graphics set to medium(~50 fps). Set to high I get about 5 fps, but it's oooh so pretty. Also, the ai is pretty damn good, they actually sneak up and flank you, hide in corners, toss grenades when they've got you cornered, etc. Very cool. Check it out, 3 thumbs up IMO. ***** to get running tho (sound issues, I have an older card).

I'm actually going to be getting this in just a few minutes (when I finish here) ... funny that you created a thread about it. :P

At first it looked rather weak (the box in-store), but tonight I read a few reviews about it and it seems to be quite the game.

Yeah, like I said, dark room, good speakers. Maybe put a slight buzz on before playing.

Speaking of speakers, are those logitechs in your sig? Looks like the ones I just recieved in the mail, and they kick ass. Great sound, kickin subwoofer. Crank that baby up for F.e.a.r.

@ Nikk: quasi-paranormal stuff, I haven't actually finished the game yet. You're a member of a First Encounter Assault Recon (hence the acronym) team. A group of cloned supersoldiers takes over a compound and slays everybody, you gotta figure out why, and kill the guy in charge. Then there's this litte ghost girl in red that keeps *&%ing everything up...

Logitechs, they are. Observant, you may seem. M'k ... enough Yoda talk.

They are Logitechs ... and they are nice. I've had some really high dollar sound systems that didn't sound nearly as well as these. Not sure of the model # they are, but very good and well worth the money.

I'd recommend it if you have the money. Best shooter I've played in a while (been quite a while tho, I still haven't played HL2 or Doom 3). Only thing that really bugs me, is I know I'm getting head shots, with an assault rifle, and the target just goes OW! and runs away. Must be good helmets they're wearing. Other than that, no real complaints. The gun physics and damage seem pretty realistic (when both taking and receiving damage) you cannot just run and gun, the bad guys will cut you down in a second.

Oh yeah, and you can see your feet! I hate it when you look down and just see the ground, like you're a floating head.

Oh, and the adrenaline/ bullet time effect is pretty sweet too.

I've got it, but I haven't played it yet. Been busy with other stuff, all that jazz. All the reviews I've seen for it have been full of praise though, so I'm looking forward to it.

In my opinion: Half Life 2 is very good, if not quite living up to my expectations after the first game (but then how could it, as good as Half Life was?). Still easily one of the best games in the past two or three years. Only real downside per se is Steam, which is annoying.
Doom 3 on the other hand... Well, I thought it kinda sucked personally. Actually got bored enough with it to quit, when I usually like to try and see most games through. Very repetitive. But then I got bored with Serious Sam because of it's repetition, and people seem to have mostly liked it, so... <shrug>

Well I haven't played Doom 3, so I can't compare, but it is fairly spooky.

Also, I don't think I've gone more than 1/2 way through, but like I said, there were some moments that really startled me. Play it in the dark.

That freakin little girl...

It seems promising, I've given some thought to buying it. On the subject of speakers:

They are my babies.

I am downl... I mean I am going to buy it soon. I played the mp demo. It looked nice, but the mp itself wasn't extraordinary.

Game freaked the **** out of me. Especially if you've seen the ring series, it's death scary.

Finished it with joy though, awesome game. Game was a bit short though, but that seems to be common habbit with games these days.
