as i told you yesterday, i saw that "module_scenes.py" is not present in Europe 1200 old version but i saw that is present in last version of europe 1200 mod (2.32) . However Every two version have also the file scenes.txt .

i was able to enlarge map only with the old version europe 1200 editing "scenes.txt" ... but no result doing same thing on last version on scenes.txt and module_scenes.py.

Infact ... yesterday, editing scenes.txt,  i was able to enlarge the battlefield size but when the battle has started, enemy faction was not placed on the other side of the map but nearly my troops. i need to study more.

how to do that ? ... in edit mode, when you press"terrain" button  ,you can see a string in the upper side of the screen ...something  like 0x00003etc.etc.  ... when you move x or y cursors , you can see that some valours change in this string ... well , i moved the cursors as i want , took the string and replaced it in the first lines inside file "scenes.txt.

I'm trying to understand by myself. If i will find a solution clear , i will post here where everybody knows how to do ... but seems that nobody knows very well how to do )
Some module like Age of Mercenary were released with the source code in the package, some didn't include the source code. The source code of a module is Module System, a set of Python files that if it's compiled will be a set of txt files that mount and blade game engine can use. Scenes.txt is compiled version of module_scenes.py.

Ok found best solution for me:

Launch Mount&Blade.

In the first Menu' , press "configure" and go in tab "Advanced" and put flag on "Enable Edit Mode (Be warned ...etc)"

Exit, choose your mod or native mode and press Play Mount&Blade

Start new game ... when game is ready and you enter in the main map (it's not important the point where you are in the map), you can see in the lower left side of the screen the "Terrain" button.

Press it  :

enable "place river" (if you want a river in the map sometime ... if you have an nvidia card remember that could be a problem with river texture that you can solve
in nvidia panel ... if you have problem tell me)

polygon size : 5 meters

Lower to minimun : Vegetation, Rugedness,Valley and Hill Height

Increase to maximun : Size y & Size x

Well , now press "Copy" Button and exit game.

Open a NOTEPAD.TXT AND PASTE THE STRING : you will see sometihing like 0x00003....etc.
Well done ... now go in directory Mount&Blade/module/ where you have other directory like "native" and also other if you have some mod installed.

If you want to change battlefield size on "native" , open native directory and search file "scenes.txt" . Open it : only the first lines are important
for our goal and  are these :

If your file is like mine ... you can see that at the end of many lines there is a string similar to the one the you pasted in the notepad ...
i 'm talking about the "0x0000000229602800000691a400003efe00004b34000059be" ... keep attention that there is also a 0x300028000003e8fa0000034e00004b34000059be.. in the first line that is different and shorter.

You have to replace only the "0x0000000229602800000691a400003efe00004b34000059be" with the string that you took before and you have reach your goal.

When you renter tha game, The battlefiled size will be 3 or 4 times higher than before ... i use a chronograph , with regular version , only 30 second with horse to pass from one side to the other of the battlefield...with this version
120 seconds....) .

If you have a mod ... keep attention that if you see that there is a directory called Module System in the main directory of your mod, you have to
change the scenes.txt file but also enter this directory "Module System" and search for Module_Scenes.py file.
Open it with text editor and replace the same strings done for scenes.txt.

Your goal is achieved also for the mod. No need to have python program or something similar

If you have some problem , post here. Sorry for my english, i'm italian ))

Incorrect, remove this. This is needed when you make a mod. And when you make a mod, you don't edit the scenes.txt, but the module_scenes.py.

What does it mean ? ... that is important only change the scenes.txt to increase battlefield size  while module_scenes.py does not affect anything?

Maybe i'm wrong but i remember , that first time i changed only scenes.txt of the mod and seemed to not work ...
Then i changed module_scenes.py and seemed to work.

The only thing that t i know is that with every two files changed, battlefiled size works ...)

i agree that is not a good thing make a work when it could be not necessary ...

i was searching to increase this battlefield size since too days without reach the solution. For sure, without these threads, i will never be able to find the main files for this operation ( scenes etc...) by myself and understand the interaction between these files and the copy button of the terrain.

But procedure in these threads was not realy clear and tested ... i tested it and when i found a good result , i stopped my test .... GOOD FOR ME )

With a battlefield bigger is another game ... you can improve your strategy, deploy archers maybe on a hill without enemy chivalry that reach them in few seconds... and wait the battle starts like in the past ... !!!) Very good.

bit of a gravedig. I've modded the scene.txt files as per the info in this thread and the battlefield size is increased just as I want. The problem I have now is twofold:

1. my troops are spawning in the bottom left corner and the enemy somewhere in the middle of the map. Is there any way to change it so we spawn at either end? I want to be able to make full use of the enlarged map.

2. I've had a few battles against forest bandits & sarranid archers (deserters) where we spawned on top of each other. Was a very quick and brutal battle for the poor bandits. Can anyone advise what I need to do to rectify this?

I've had this working perfectly in an earlier Warband version but I can't find the info on what I did (if anything) differently.

Thanks in advance for any help.
