Hello, i would like to know if these 3 features are planned or if the devs said anything about it in the past please :

1) Naval aspect : ships , trade ships, sea boarding engagements ?

2) Ambushes : possibility to ambush an army on the campaign map with a follow up ambush battle?

3) Bridge map for bridge battles or choke point maps?

Thank you

I do believe there is a bridge map. Though I can't tell what makes it fire exactly other than that I have loaded the map in proximity of a bridge.

Dont think they're adding Naval but it would be beyond sweet with this upgraded graphical engine would be a sin to never add it. I would expect it in DLC at some point.

Ambush scenes would be great -the game sorely needs that sort of strategy encounter.

There is like one dinky bridge scene -not riveting in the slightest. They need to think BIG on this one- like really high up with raging river below

I'd like to see inter-faction games/tourneys/feasts....anything that brings about a sense of community to the factions (common purpose) atm you just occasionally bump into people.. it seems devoid of purpose to me..arbritrary.

LOL there is a bridge map ... but the bridge is so small, more like a foot bridge. No wheeled vehicle could cross it. You probably already have used the bridge map but never saw the bridge ! LOL! If you notice it quick enough, you can race your archers up quickly to catch the looters crossing the weeeeeeeee .. foot bridge . Med2TotalWar knows what a bridge is.

Yes, ambushes are desperately needed. This should be a favorite tactic of Bandits.

naval, would take alot of work but those islands look tempting for a new kingdom.

Yes I meant a massive bridge map because we see many of them on the campaign map and sometimes I block a bridge to prevent caravans from feeding enemy cities or to intercept an army then wish we had the bridge map when i fight a battle at this location.

Tactically it would give the possibility to block these strategic choke points and it is nice when the battle map reflects where you are on the campaign map ( more or less of course but bridges are kinda specific )

Thanks for the reply!

Yes wouldnt it be amazing with ships? They already have the ports on the campaign map.

What they need to add is income from the port and trade routes.

For the ships, it would just be one tree with 3 different ship types, first one would be a trade ship ( would work like a caravan ) , second one transport ship and third one could be a"war" ship that you buy empty and with a fixed amount of room ( so you can mix the troops you want in it apart from the rowers).

They could adapt it by culture like Sturgia would have some kind of viking style vessel which is manoeuverable and fast for their size, Empire could have some scorpion/ballista or corvus mounted, Aserai could have a ramming vessels type with archer towers etc .

Naval would not be large scale, just to allow more diversity because the player who would be able to afford an expensive boat could work as mercenary blocking ports, raiding villages of the enemy on the other side of the coast by disembarking warriors and attacking shipping and defending your own from pirates (sea raiders) and enemy ships.

The maps would be quite simple cause it would be 95% sea... then the ship boarding mechanics can work like siege towers when they attach to walls.

I would really love to see this eventually, I cannot wait as it would really make this game more interesting.

For ambushes i was thinking a system where you can place your army in ambush mode in a suitable location like a forest for instance. Then if the enemy runs into your area of control, it would initiate a battle where you can place your troops on the battlefield before the battle and the enemy starts with his troops in marching mode in the middle of the map and with a slight morale penalty ( similar to total war basically).

I think it would not be hard to implement because we have a skill already that ( when it will work ) lets you place your troops before the battle.

Also as it is now, since armies are never surprised or ambushed and there are no real choke points on the map that provide an advantage to the defender both in terms of the battlemap and autocalculation , it means that generally speaking between AI factions, the faction with the most men always win... but with ambushes and chokepoints like mountain passes, large bridge battle, narrow river crossings among others, it would allow the underdog to put up more of a fight by using the geography and autocalculation of battles that takes the terrain into account.

naval trade income from ports without actual ships should be very easy to code/add indeed.

There are two bridge scenes if I remember correctly. One is where you start facing the bridge and enemies try to cross it when they come at you. Easy target for archers and they usually all die before they cross the bridge... And the second scene might be the same scene but you start with the bridge on the right side from you and it plays no real role. Enemies just come at you with bridge having nothing to do with them.

So, thinking of it, it might be same scene, with just two different starting points for your army. Not sure, will pay more attention when I play again.

Naval trade would be so awesome. There can even be added some events like "part of your trade fleet was robbed by pirates" or "sank in a storm" and things like that. Maybe positive ones as well. Maybe you could even open up more options in the port for things like "cartography" where you research new routes to new far away lands with much bigger profits turning in. But I'm being carried away again and saying stuff that devs won't ever add  (looking at you, modders  )

So many threads asking for new stuff when so much of the game isn't properly fleshed out yet.

1. Perks
2. Relationships and diplomacy. (This is vast and needs a lot of work in a lot of areas).
3. Marriage
4. Lack of quest variety and too many lose/lose outcomes.
5. Bandit lairs are tiresome especially forest bandits.
6. Economy is screwed without modding.
7. Main quest needs to be entirely optional and completely re done.
8. Vanilla companion availability is totally random and often unsuitable for your needs.
9. Tournaments rewards are a total joke without modding.
10. Most campaigns involve the same factions all but wiped out by day 200/300 due to same wars at the start, faction imbalance and geography.
11. Combat AI needs a lot of work especially in seiges.
12. Make Rougery and Trade Clan skills. Possibly expand Rougery to give chances to ambush etc?

I'd like most of the above first before we start asking for additional features and fluff.

But what I'd like to see most is inter faction politics with possible civil wars and ousting of ruling houses. This gives another option instead of starting a new kingdom from scratch.

I'd also like more minor factions and some with improved troops. Most are scrubs and would not make my armies though boar veterans and aboreals are decent enough for garrison duty their inferior armour makes them too flimsy for an army. Most of the minor faction troops though are a joke.
