EXP balance auto / Manuel Battle

Hi, during my playthroug i had the feeling that doing auto battle able my unit to gain much more xp thyan doing manuel battle. I would like yo know if it is only me or a game mechanic/bug.

It's not just you. It would be nice to change this because it removes the incentive to fight battles manually, especially when you want to level up your lower tier units.
