Exeriti's Starter Guide
Okey, i know theres already guides out there, but i just felt like shareing how i start up as it gives me quite the boost. This is all about the begining, i dont think i'll add anything about tactics but it might pop in there if i decide to go for it.
So i hope you guys find this guide helpfull.

”Build”
Okey i usualy go with this build:

Male -> Veteran Warrior -> Page -> Squire -> Wanderlust

I pick this build as it gives me the most balanced stats. I put Agillity and Charisma to 12, and put the rest in Intelligence. I put 4 points in looting. From then you can choose for your self, i would og for Inventory Management as i can just recruit the Tismaru guy and train him on the Trainer/Engineer/Medic path. Then i choose to either take a caravan to Reyvadin or Praven..

”Begining”
I accept the Merchants guest, but instead of running of to do it, i og back to the city. I then sell my gold bar and go to the taveren to look for any companions to recruit. You need to buy 2 extra horses, even if you dont recruited any companions, for a nice traveling boost.
Then you go tho the nearest village and conscript some recruits. The recruits will only be used as sacrefice lambs and give your party a higher number. Then you scale your army down to 10 people in total. If you have more companions, you have to get ridd of more recruits. You have to always have 5 recruits to sacrefice, even if your party have like 7-9 companions. If so you have to scale the party down to 13-15.

Now you can start with the main part. Ride around the lands belonging to to faction you started at, forceing pesants to give you supplies. Be sure to visit every village for the faction and to visit any close towns to sell of your loot and look for more companions.  Do this a cupple of times, from 2-4 runs, and you’ll be sitting with a profit around 7000 denars – 13 000 denars.

”Money Makeing”
This section of the guide can be used by people that already have an army, but need money to keep it. Its mainly for new guys tho..
Then you have finished stealing from villages, disband any recruits for a nice traveling bonus. Keep the companions for some protection. Ride to Curraw while you visit the villages from Reyvadin to Curraw while you buy cheap iron. Fill up the rest of your inventory at Curraw and sell the iron in Reyvadin for a nice profit of 7000 denars.

Now you got a nice little start going. Now travel back to Curraw, fill up your inventory with iron from the villages on the way and get the last iron to fill your inventory from the Curraw market. This will cost you around 3500 –  4000 denars. If there isnt anymore iron at the market, wait a while then travel to Wercheg. Sell the iron and buy as much salt and fish as possible while you still get a profit of around 3000 denars. Sell this at curraw for a nice profit of 7000 denars. If the prices are bad here, og to Kundan. Again, fill up your inventory with cheap iron for around 3000 denars and now your next target will be Sargoth. Sell the iron for a profit of 7000 denars and use 3000 of it to fill your inventory with cheap Flax from the nearby villages, if not full yet, buy the rest from Sargoths market and head back to Curraw. Here sell it for a final profit of 7000 – 8000 denars.

Total profit? From around 26 000 denars to 38 500 denars. This is what i do to make my starting money, but can also be usen further into the game. Ofcourse, you could do this with other factions like Swadia and Rhodok’s, but then you have to spend some time learninghow theire prices og and what the diferent towns need and produces. Theres no need to invest in the tradeing skill as you can manage the tradeing quite good without it. Ofcourse, if you wanna make good money, find two factions thats at war and trade the goods they need from each others.

”Leveling”
Okey, now you  are at the leveling part and should have around 26 000 to 38 500 denars. Use this to equip your companions with good armour, weaponds and horses. The armour will cost around 4000 to 7000 for a good chest piece, anything over that is a waste of money. I usualy equip them with:

Charger/Warhorse -> Good armour -> Sword -> Shield -> Lance/Spear -> Trowing weaponds

Or, for Archer type Companions i chose:
Coursier/Hunter -> Good armour -> Sword -> Shield -> Crosbow/Bow -> Bolts/Arrows.

Next i travel with my companions only and either attack Bandits, or fail at forceing villages to give me supplies. You need to have a party of MAX 9 in total to be able to fail at this.  The villagers wont see you as a threat and get aggresive. Charge them as they dont deal so much damage and the good armour you should have bought will make it like 1hp at max. With good Ironflesh skill, you can kill the entire village by your self.
The Villagers are easy kills and gives both you and your companions a good deal of exp.

”Companions”
For leveling of the companions, look at the section above. Then you are levelig your companions, you should be looking at their starting stats to figure out what you want them to be.
I like to recruit Tismaru, the trader guy, as he dosent require any money and starts in lvl 1. With this companion, with high charisma and intelligence, you can pretty much decide his entire carieer. I like to boost up his intelligence and spend the points in:

Trainer -> Engineer -> Wound Treatment -> Surgery

This allows me to spent my points to better my fighting as he takes on the job to Train and build. If you find aragon, your in luck cause these two guys like each other.

Tismaru: Trainer -> Engineer -> Tactics.
Aragon: Wound Treatment -> Surgery -> Pathfinding.

Anyway, you need a companion with good training skill. And remember, then runing around tradeing or whatever, be sure to have your companions increase your right to rule..

”Raseing an Army”
Then raseing your army, you should go back to the ”Money Makeing” section and earn som extra cash. Around 30 – 50 000 denars should be enoght. Conscript your recruits to you cant have any more and travel to a town. Rest here and you will get good experience from your daily training.
Keep a look out for ”Some soldiers are ready to be upgraded”, and upgrade all the time. With this you will be able to get a quite good and siezed army without haveing to loose many troops to the bandits and mercenaries.

”Starting your own Kingdom”
Then starting your own kingdom, you shouldnt be trying to take the castle or town you always wanted. You have to have a power base to build up your army. I suggest that you siege a recently captured castle as they will have from little to none troops defending. If you are lucky, you just have to prepear ladders which is fast.

Then you have your very own castle, i suggest you conscript tons of new recruits and store them in the castle. Then enogth, do what you did in the ”Raseing an Army”. You need quite many good troops to defend your power base then you are raiding, recruiting more or are launching an campain to take the castle/town you really wanted.

I like to find my self a nice corner on the map, and have a line of castles, towns and villages that i can launch huge patrols to to keep the enemies out of my kingdom. I then focus on sending out lesser patrols around the villages within my kingdom to keep them safe from any bandits, mercenaries.

After i have gotten my defences up, i consentrate on my ecconomy. I try to make peace with the kingdom i look land from to start sending out caravanes. The taxes are set to low so the villages can begin to prosper. I also start building economical buildings, as well as bringing them the raw materials they need. I help the villages elders to get them quite loyale for a better recruiting run.

Then the villages and town are getting richer, i turn the taxes up to normal or between low and normal. For soldiers i choose quality over sieze. Then i recruit lords, i like to take them from the kingdom i took land from, as they are more experienced with the types of soldiers and use equipment equal to theire soldiers.

”Character”
Then i level up my character, i got for skills like Ironflesh, Power Strike, Looting and Rideing. This makes me more powerfull and helps me survive more. I also try to pump my Leadership and Inventory Management for bigger armies and more goods then im tradeing.

Just a quick note:
I apology for any bad english,
im norwegian so english isnt my
primary laqnguage and i got a stupid
"auto-correct" thing on that i cant turn off. -.-

Nice work and a decent starters guide.

A bit of spellcheck wouldn't go amiss, ( I understand English isn't you're first language, but the first duty of an Englishman is to make every other gentleman an Englishman) also any other hints for new players would be very welcome.

/adjusts monocle.

I was thinking of adding more, but i also didnt want to ruin the fun of discovering it for others. This was meant to get them started, without ruining the fun of letting them discover other methods of leveling or other stuff.

In the 2# post that i reserved, i was thinking of adding a few tactics for newbies to use. Again, mainly the basic ones, so they can discover the other ones and make their own.

I was thinking to add:

1# Post:

  • Questing
    Renown
    Honour
    Morale
2# Post:

  • Basic Combat Tactics
    VS. Infantry Tactics
    VS. Archer Tactics
    VS. Cavalery Tactics
    Castle Siege Tactics
    Town Siege Tactics
    Flanking?

What browser are you using? English isn't my native language either, and the corrector built in Chrome helps me sometimes
