.exe file missing

I got a virus on my computer and it deleted my mount and blade .exe file. I really would love to play the game without reinstalling and losing my 400 day character. What other way can I do this? Or get a new .exe file.

Copy the savegames to a different folder and reuse them later?

Or just reinstall M&B on top of the existing installation. It shouldn't delete the save files in the process.
