Welp, say what you want. BUT RUSSIA HASN'T RECOGNIZED KOSOVO AS AN INDEPENDENT !!!
Ok, but seriously. I don't even care much, but for the sake of argument.
Serbia is a small country. Only 2 active players right now.
The only option with current rules is Romania, and thats ok. They're also small and can barely muster up enough players to even participate.
But, just sayin', Serbia has about a million things more in common with Russia than with Romania, minus the border.
So if we're only 2, and thats assuming that Varadin even wants to play in this league, why can't we join a country that has historically been allied to Serbia, and there have never been wars/land disputes/ etc. between our contries( unlike with all dem ex-soviet countries and Rus.). Our religion is the same, language-wise there are quite some differences, only basics are understandable( to me at least), cultures are only slightly resembling.
Tangible facts aside- Serbians from young age are kind of shaped into russophiles. Serbia has this political dillema in which we need to decide do we ally with the West or with Russia( and has had it for a long long time, and the pendulum keeps swinging.) . Ofc. politics don't run on emotions, but on interests. But most common people would say that RUSSIA is the way to go.. ( for more information, if anyone even cares, use google.com).
Ok lemme try to gib some simmilarities
- Kompot
- Adidas
- Squats
- Vodka/rakija
jk.
Ok seriously here's the deal, here's how i see it.
This tournament is having quite some problems before it has even begun.
Only Ger. and Pol. team have ANY chance to win, and we all know who is the favorite.
Russian team is now about mediocre, will do well but meh.
Serbia has only 1 country that it can join, with the current rules, Romania.
Russia has been proposed as an alternative because Serbia has roots and positive history with Russia. And with Romania only the borders( and a few swear words).
If we join Russia i believe it would be a team that would be a bigger challenge. In other words we'd get 1 more team that could perform decently.
So what if i don't speak Russian, i don't speak Romanian either, thats for sure. And im def. more simmilar to a Russian than a Romanian.
Rule flexibility in such a small and casual league would be appritiated. Doesn't need to be set in stone. No stubbornness please.
