Skeletor

Sergeant Knight
So I've just sobered up after celebrating last night's victory against Germany and thought I'll start a new thread. You can comment anything - who are your favorites, how is your team playing, how did you celebrate.
So to start, last night was a bliss - all that beer, singing, hugging, sweat - real men bonding .
Morning started a bit lame, drowsiness after drinking large quantities of weissbier and waking up among couple of guys in Croatian water polo speedos, but it got better. Firstly because my ass didn't hurt  and secondly because I was really exited reading press around the world praising our game .

Let all voices be heared
I hate soccer industry. I don't appreciate the show at all.
Have fun and please don't bother others with it too much

I was positively surprised to see Germany loose, nice work from the Croatian team. That guy who got the red card (can't ****ing spell his name) was incredibly stupid, the player who committed the foul got a yellow card.

The fact that Italy played so bad was also a surprise, if Holland keeps playing as well as they did there they could just win the tournament. Other one that might win would be Portugal or maybe even Spain.

I just can't stand Greece. Man, they play the most boring football I've ever seen. Jesus, defensemen passing around for 2 minutes? Waay to passive. Just ridiculous...

Too bad Finland never makes it to world or european championships. Guess we just suck too bad.

Agreed on that. All-back-to-defence tactic surly isn't a crowd pleaser

Curiously, I don't like football, except the penalties. I reckon it could be that I like watching 2 player precsion/reaction based sports (squash is a notable example) rather than relatively slow moving team sports (football, rugby, cricket etc.).

However, this viewpoint is not shared by others, thus my dream of having lengthy football replaced by 10 minute penalty matches is likely to be short lived

Finally someone started such thread.

Congrat on your win over germany, but they didnt show much effort and good fotball, similiar to our (czech) 3:0 victory over them in qualification stage. Greek football is piece of sh*t, i cant forget last euro (in semifinals) when we got lucky goal in 119:58 (last second before penalty shot-out), i am sure that Portugal - Czech final would be much better show, our team was on top there.

Our current one doesnt stand a chance, still we may get to the quarter finals, but no further. Our coach still keep some players in team just because their old achievments - Baros (striker), best scorer (5goals) of last Euro, didnt strike a goal in more then year (on both league and international scene) and hes still in team. Also we have one of oldest teams on tournament, how i said, this team top was on E 2004 and under current coach it wont change, most of players are already close or over 30.
Our match with schwitzerland was also very bad, lucky win. Against Portugal it was way better, but after 60.min we ceased to defend Deco & Ronaldo, so 3:1 lose.

That german is Bastian Schweinsteiger, who really stands for his name (Schwein - Pig in german).

Dont forget Holland as potential winners, but we should wait for their current match today.. Spain wont win.. Italy is only partial suprise, their defense is quite weakened.

Posting anti-football replys here is pure provocation  - and i am not even talking about word SOCCER  . For cymro: Even classic game is pretty adrenaline, it all depend on game speed and playing teams.

too bad belgium sucks so hard in top football ( 87-on fifa rangking ) , but i'm realy but realy realy positively suprised by romania  ,they're now playing against italy and the are like the opposit of greece(lame) football , my bet on final is    the netherlands(or portugal)-italy(or tsech-republic)

  bufon just amazingly safed a penalty , i think he's a prick , but he sure can hold the balls out of his goal

..italy(or tsech-republic).. - wha? still thanks for it, but its quite sci-fi. Belgian league is still quit good, i dont see why you are so low on fifa ranking, i have expected at least somewhere arround 50.

Buffon is still one of the best goalkeepers, excluding van der Saar hes the most experienced

The game just ended and I'm pretty disappointed with Italy. Instead of playing Italian football they just throw long balls to tony and look for a lucky deflection.

@Amigo Czechs are not near as good as back in 2004 when Nedved was one of the best players in the world. But as I hear your junior squad is great so you are probably just having a change of generations. Nonetheless I'll be cheering for your team against Turkey (because I think your style will be better for Croats in the quarterfinals ).

het ijskonijn van der sar , that's how we call him in our country ,i've friendly relation towards tzech-republic because jan koller played in belgium long time ago and i loved'em

"Belgian league is still quit good" haha , that was a quite funny comment  , we'suck pretty hard because we've got a ****ty league organisation , BUT they're planning making something totaaly new, the top 5 teams in one little leauge , my favorite will kick some pretty ass out there  as for international ,w've got good youth management , the dutch is way bettter but ,our national team is very young , let them grow for 4 years and they might even make it to the poules in euro championchips

@skeletor , i like sweden for some reason , i don't know why , i also found the italians playing to booring for their caliber, but  there we're some pretty dangerous  long balls wich tony only closely missed

i'll be cheering for the dutch when they play in 15 minutes

well, but its top has enough quality. + Jan Polak plays for Anderlecht . yes, its right about your national team, there should be potential.

Skeletor: Italy is big dissapointment, death group doesnt justify it.
Well, you probably meant the U20 squad from Canada - Fenin (hat-trick in his first bundes liga appearance, 6goals total in half season), simunek (relatively stable part of wolfsburg '11), Kalouda (CSKA Moscow, just transferred), Pekhart (Tottenham B), Mazuch (Fiorentina B) for example, but the problem is that Brückner is conservative coach, who didnt test them in friendly matches and he still nominate Galasek (35, sloooooow), Baros (very uneffective), Rozehnal (center defender, watching his game  is worth cardiatic arrest, ball at his feet usually stinks with coming goal) and when he nominate someone for his first cap, its usually 30years old players (Jarolim, Vlcek /Anderlecht/,...).

I hope that we will meet in QF, i just fear that Baros would strike accidential goal which will ensure his position in team for entire lifetime..

Yay for Euro 2008!

As long as Portugal  doesn't win, I'm happy.

I'm rooting for Spain and the Czech Republic as usual.

****ing sh*t van der sarr is keeping the netheerlands in the match , just watched 10 minutes and saw him perform 3 world saves

Yes the Dutch are looking quite impressive.
Have you noticed that there were few goals from distance, in fact I think Sneider and Zlatan are the only ones to score from outside the penalty box.

Oh man, I've got a hunch Dutchies are gonna win. Snejders shot, WOW.

I'm curious to see if Sweden can match Spain. (Zlatan ftw!)

Now let's hope Italy wins France. France plays the most boring football in the tournament. Unlike Greece, they would be able to play entertaining football if they wanted to. If France gets eliminated, I'd say, it's a win for football.
