The EU will now review daylight saving. What are the pros and cons?

The article mentions health problems due to daylight saving. Never heard of that.

I doubt many of the arguments have actually been examined.

Switching over to daylight saving time, and losing one hour of sleep, raised the risk of having a heart attack the following Monday by 25 percent, compared to other Mondays during the year

In other words it's culling the weak.

Well, if there are good arguments it can be scrapped, but I'll miss it. In Denmark at least, it makes perfect sense.

So it didn't go immediately through but the Commission has agreed to start a working group to review existing standards and treaties on Daylight's Saving Time as well as review the scientific evidence for it and against it. This means that around 2020, EU will get rid of DST as it is completely useless, does not actually lead to energy savings and causes a multitude of (minor) nuisances to people.

Not sure where I stand with DST, yeah I'm pissed when I lose an hour but the happiness I get when I realise I've got another hour of sleep  is comparable to winning the lottery right there and then.
