So this rule, seems quite new, of not tking other tkers just does not work. Multiple times someone will go through the spawn killing anyone they see and horse. They are then killed. The killer gets slayed with some sort of message like "Wait for an admin to deal with it, just sit there and take it"...and thats different to killing the perpetrator how? At least that way you get the satisfaction of killing a trouble maker before he kills you...

A Teamkill is a teamkill, We have to deal with what we see, if we see an intentional teamkill it will be dealt with no matter what the history between to two is. Some admins are slightly more lenient to teamkills for the sake of stopping a mass tker, but revenge tking is still a big no.

The best course of action is of course avoiding the player and contacting an admin, because as the rules state teamkilling is not allowed: a tk is still a tk and you may still face the penalty.

In this world, if you murder a murderer you will still be punished

Instead of attacking him, just sit there and block him until a admin can deal with it, or run away from him.

This has been a rule on the Official Servers since Napoleonic War's Release, and was a rule on the US MM servers before then for some time.

One big difference is that the logs don't display who attacks whom, just who ends up killing the other. If players just allowed it to happen we can quickly find and dispose of the players through the logs once they are reported.

Second big difference is that when an admin is in game and all they see is the TK pop up, the only person they typically have discussing it is the person who just team killed someone in 'self defense'. Funnily enough several people who TK intentionally claim self defense as well, so much so that its become as efficacious as the old "My brother was playing" excuses.

There is a reason behind the rule, and the importance of satisfaction from getting revenge is less than that of maintaining the server as efficiently as possible.

Well, your example is not really realistic. Because if someone starts massive teamkilling, he will get perm banned and not slayed. The reason, why you get slayed for killing him, is educational. To teach people not to teamkill. Ever. There are different examples however. Someone attacks you and you kill him in self-defence. Who is the teamkiller? You, because admin cannot see everything. He can see the fight and then the teamkill for example, but if he didnt see who started, he cannot know who is guilty. If only the rulebreakers made teamkills, it would be much easier for admins and we would never had unban requests "I teamkilled only teamkillers".

If we say now that it is ok to teamkill a teamkiller, it will turn into chaos. People will teamkill each other and say "he was a teamkiller". And you cant punish someone without proof. If he claims it was a teamkiller and you cant prove opposite, you cant punish him. NEVER TEAMKILL is a simple rule. If you teamkill someone on purpose, you broke the rule and therefore you are guilty. No need for further investigation. And by the way, it is not a new rule. It has always been a rule.

There is also the problem of, if you teamkill a teamkiller. You then become a teamkiller yourself, and you can therefore be teamkilled by the same reasoning, and this will continue and create a teamkilling spree when everyone "has the authority" to teamkill everyone....
