What the hell man, they put gta san andreas as an Adults only!!!
I think that was wrong cause its good as it is, we've seen worser in other games and we have to stop this now. How do you guys they might even make more other games rated Adults Only!

I really don't see how making you need to be a year older to buy the game will change anything. It says MATURE on the box already but, parents go, "Billy is mature, he is in the 6th grade now!" Lewis Black commented on this, sorry this ain't verbatim but, he said something like this

He sort of said said:
Nudity has no place in a video game where I steal cars then run over the drivers or have sex with prostitutes or decapitate people with a rifle/sword.

And for christ's sake, The only real difference in (im)morality between San Andreas and GTA3 is the word "****".

If I understand this correctly (and I probably don't because, being american, I know nothing of the outside world) nudity is frowned on more than violence in the USA but, everywhere else it is the other way around. I guess it has something to do with the fact that sex/nudity is a natural and healthy thing while jumping sideways and putting 4726828 shots into a man's face is not. America is back-asswards on a lot of things.

::hitches up pants, spits out wad of chewing tobacco::

Durn raht. Dint yew know JEEEESUS and his daddy GAWD get mad when they see them titties?

You're right tho, America is backwards, and it's getting worse.

Anybody in one of those sunny Scandanavian countries want to adopt me? I'm a hard worker, I'm housebroken and have had all my shots. Please? I won't raise children in this country.

Sunny.... Scandinavia.... *trying to figure out how these two could be in the same sentence, its like using Opel and good together*

Hey, come on, the summer is pretty sunny. This year it was this tuesday a few weeks back. :)

Ah, how could I forget the only sunny day of the year. Hmm, reminds me of when we watched The Day After Tomorrow with my buddy. We figured out that by the time all the yanks were evacuated the skandinavians were headed for the beach

I'm sure happy my parents came to the same conclution 15 years ago. I would be driving my Mustang all day and smoking 40 cigarettes a day. Just like my american cousin. Damn.

If I remember correctly, GTA:SA was put as an adults only because rockstar left lots of porn on the code, and one hacker got the code and released it on the net, causing public outcry among parents.

So in my opinion, the ESRB actually did something right this time

I must be one of the only people that doesn't care...

I don't necessarily like the ESRB. They're ranking system is somewhat flawed, but as long as I have Mount & Blade for my medieval slaughtering, and Homeworld 2 for my strategical commandizationing, I shouldn't need to buy anything else.

In Europe it was rated 18+ already anyway. (we don't have ESRB, some other rating company). But honestly, I don't care at all about the rating.

ESRB ratings are funny. Australia, instead of changing the rating, just banned the game. It's now illegal to buy, own or rent the game in anywhere in Australia I believe...

In GTA, I do know that you can deliver pizzas and such, wich makes the game tempting to only be able to be mildly viliont. I also have a great article in my pocket entitled: "Are video games realy that bad?" I'll scan and post it in a day or two, maybe. Also, I think AO rating is a good idea, but Manhunt needs it more. And it won't deter that many people really.

I don't know, some things aren't good for little kidds, I have a little 12 year old cousin, and one of his friends has GTA (the friend's the spoiled type who's parents just give him everything) and ever since, he has been bad mouthing me, without even knowing what he said, he's saying **** you to me when I forbid him to play GTA san andreas for instance. (wich I own) **** you! to me! ME! his older cousin, I gave him a beating and forbid him to come near my playstation for the entire weekend he was visiting us, after that I explained why I did it (him not showing propper respect for people older then him.)

he probably would have become this way annyway because of school influence, but still. I can see GTASA be part of a certain media exploitation of what is suposedly "cool" and the coolness of being hard and down and a gangsta and not showing the right people propper respect.

And I for one will simply not tolerate it. I'm not saying that the game should be banned or annything (since I like playing it). But people shouldn't underestimate how it can influence the little ones.

Oh really?

I do know what you mean though. I voted "they did good about it" though it isn't what I really wanted. I wanted it to be "the parents ****ed up bad". The box says, "MATURE 17+" and still they give it to little kids then are shocked at what a game called GRAND THEFT AUTO is glorifing.

It's not like I hit him hard or annything, I just hit him a few times on his behind, then told him I did it out of love and to teach him respect for older people. and that he would one day thank me for it, as I am gratefull my dad smacked me everytime I cried as a little kidd to give me a reason to cry! it sure stopped me from being a crybaby, and this will stop him from being disrespectfull.

yeah that is idiotic of parents

I don't like the idea of banning sales from a certain age group, so I voted screwed up. On most issues I have a libertarianish view, except when that violates the common good. A kid playing some game isn't violating the common good. Some children may be very receptive to everything they see, but in those cases the parents should just make sure not to let them play the game. Not all, or I think even many kids are so suceptable (sp?) to negetive influences. The ratings should be more of a suggestion guide. And I also think they should be more fine-grained than kiddie|everyone can play|over 13|over 16|screw you kids, you can't play this|well, no one talks about this last rating

Oh, for those who don't know what I mean, the pipe is used to indicate 'chose one' arguements and commands in the dos/win manuals.
