Escape Key Broke, need help

I downloaded Mount & Blade on my girlfriend's laptop to play while she is watching tv or doing work. The problem is that her laptop's escape key doesnt work, I have no idea why. Is there any file I can change to reassign the the escape key to say F1 or something. I can get into the game fine, I just cant escape out and save the game, which I found out after playing for five hours...

I don't really know how to bind it to another key. However, the game auto-saves whenever you finish a battle or leave a town (on realistic saving). So you could just enter a town and then leave before you quit your game. Sorry i can't be of any more help. And welcome to the forums!

I have an ingenious idea!
1) Take out the ESC key
2) Take out the F1 key
3) Replace the F1 and ESC key, so your top keyboard would be as

F1 ESC F2 F3 F4...

Now your ESC key works : (but F1 doesnt)

........

Best thing is replacing the keyboard on the laptop. I don't think you can re-bind it, since its all scripted in (I think). I was curious as to how to re-bind the 'fixed' keys myself, and couldn't find them anywhere. If anyone could shine more light upon this it would be really interesting to know.

Couldn't you just take out the key and push the little white thing? There's gotta be some way you can make the electrical signal get sent.

How olds the laptop? Does it have USB? You might be able to plug a normal keyboard into it and use that.

Like DaLagga says, play on realistic, or copy and paste the save file often
