The game is installed perfectly, and I can enter the game as well. I can also enter a battle mode. But, when I try to press a button to move a horse, the game is exited immediately. The system shows "Mount&Blade has encountered a problem and needs to close."I  try to reduce texture detail or other render issue. I also try to reinstall the video card driver, but nothing better.

I'm having a hell of a time with my ATI 4870 1gb card + windows 7.

I'm beginning to think it might be a case of the wrong version of DX9 installed.  I recall having issues with other games where the exact version of DX9 made all of the difference.  So I'm going to go to MS's site and try finding the absolute latest from them tonight. ;P

I've downloaded and reinstalled the full version DX9, but I still can't move the character. When I hit a button to move, the same problem occurs.

That sucks!

We're having a related discussion here: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,57352.0.html

But they may or may not be related.

Does your PC have enough juice?  good power supply?

I don't know what would cause such consistent failure for you?

In some other games I had such problems, too, I think. In those cases I used just one of my two CPU's if that helps.
Or you should change the game priority in a task manager.
That are ways I use if nothing helps.

Check the soundcard driver is up to date. If you're using XP, try turning off hardware acceleration in the sound tab of dxdiag

Might also want to try turning off sound variation in the option menu and see if it helps.
