Every time i click on the shortcut to bring up the game it goes to the launch menu where you can either buy, enter license code, play game etc, when i click on play it brings up a white box, then an error that says

Warning: Nothing will be rendered.
The Reference rendering device was selected, but your
computer only has a reduced-functionality reference device
installed. Install the DirectX SDX to get the full
reference device.

Then i hit OK and get this

Generic application error. Enable
debug output for detailed information.
This sample will now exit.

and i hit ok and its gone.

the funny thing is, i was able to play last night, after i was done i turned off my computer, turned it on this afternoon and got this. I have directx 9.0c and all that jazz, what do i do?

Wait.. I think I might actually have to.. agree with you

yep. its sad what they did to gothic3 and that 3rd party expansion. it was nothing like g1 and g2 and its expansion. althoe they messed alot of things up, gothic3 still holds the title for most detailed breath taking forest environment ever. which is a MAJOR accomplishment that other game developers with much more financial backing cant even come close to achieving on the scale gothic3 is at. also loved some of the acoustic guitar tracks.

DOUBLE POST!

to be honest, i did have alot of fun with gothic3, my system ran it fine on highest graphical detail and i never got alot of crashes or quest bugs. the story was engaging enough to go along with for the most part and even some of those stupid hard to kill low level enemy's (wild boars) and the ridiculously high amount of enemy's in nordmar (before the patch) were no problem for me. but they did totally screw up the engaging story and quest structure tied along with it, the character models all looked like crap, half the skills either didnt work or had to quests or possible ways to use them tied behind it, alot things were unbalanced, to many repetitive quests and the list goes on. but aside from all of this, im still anxiously awaiting gothic4 and what spellbound is going to do with it.
