Merhaba, Everybody,

I just discovered (a few weeks ago, actually) I won an erasmus place in Sakarya Universitesi, lasting 11 months.

Now, my turkish "background" is mainly made of a passion for byzantine (and anatolian, generally) history, two turkish girlfriends and the vision of a few clips taken from Zeirrin Egeliler's movies -and the unforgettable turkish remake of "the wizard of Oz"-, I hope it will suffice

By the way, is there anybody from Sakarya\Adapazari, does anybody know anything about the city, or could you provide me with general informations about Turkish life (for instance, i just learned that there are two different rooms for the bathroom and the wc)?

Cok tesekkurler

Sorry, friend but our english is bad... (İdare eder umarım.)
Zerrin Egeliler and ''Wizard of oz'' Harry Kewel Galatasaray, thats enough man...

look at this - - - http://www.divapc.com/forum/showthread.php?p=46950

if you liked "the wizard of oz", you should watch "the man who saves the world" (aka turkish starwars)and also other Cüneyt Arkın movies. don't miss them.

e adam wizard of'un türk versiyonunu sevdiyse bunları da sever. ingilizcem yettiğince yardım etmeye çalıştım adama. türk kültürünü açıklayacak kadar ingilizce bilmiyorum.

Well... First of all wellcome to Turkey and I hope you will enjoy your time here.

Sakarya is really close to Istanbul and that's the best thing about it . And the toilets... Hmm you will find them very interesting. Ala Turka toilet is actually a hole on the ground. You will have to press c to crouch on it and do your uhm... Whatever hopefully you will find a much modern apartment. And see the infamous "taharet faucet" lol. I have a friend studying at the Sakarya University. I can ask her for details about Sakarya and inform you about the city in general. And Turks... No one can really tell you how a Turk is (see: what is matrix) You will have to experience yourself

And duuude... Come on... Zerrin Egeliler is an old story.. Look for Nurgül Yeşilçay

First, I wanna ask where are you from? If you'r greek or, just from eastern europe, well.. we'r not that foreigner for you. You say you use to have turkish girlfriends, interesting....

Allright, some tips about turkish life;
-take your bath in bathroom, pee in wc
-when someone say you "selamın aleykum" say "weeehhuuealleykhumsallaam" because it's a religious rule
-forget about those ****ty drinks, taste rakı
-well, adapazari is not a good place to hangin out, although Istanbul is not so far. Go there if you wanna have fun
-don't think all turkish girls like you used to date, cuz they'r not. espacially in sakarya

And I think you must taste the Turkish food which is called "İskender". There is a lot of food which are made of meat in Turkish dish but İskender is the best...

Some pictures nearby Sakarya.
