A few questions about various equipment related things...

Does encumberance effect mounted characters? If I plan on fighting only from horseback, is there any point in wearing lighter armours as opposed to armours with greater armour class, and using lighter weapons?

What effects the curve of the parabolic path of arrows? I've noticed that at differant times ive had to arc my bow at differant angles to differant extents for ranged shots. I'm not sure whether this is caused by the skill with bows, power draw skill or the quality of the bow itself. Im not sure about thrown weapons and crossbows either.

When is a bastard sword a two handed weapon and when is it one handed? Obviously on foot, when you have a shield equiped its one handed, if you dont its two handed, but in the case of fighting from horseback, two handed weapons are always wielded with one hand, it doesnt seem to make sense that a shield being equiped or not changes which skill the weapon uses, when it is wielded in one hand anyway.

I don't have noticed an effect of encumberance fo mounted charcters - this don't means thre isn't one, but if it exist it's minor enough to be irrelevant.

Wih the number of factors that might be involved (type and quality of bow, type of arrows, power draw skill, archery skill), there's no way to tell for sure what is efecitvely used.

There's no animation for two-handed swings, ut logically, two handed weapons are still handled the same.

I've noticed that on horseback a bastard sword counts as one-handed regardless of whether you're using a shield or not: hitting with it improves your 1-handed skill. I don't know why swinging other 2-handers improves your 2-handed skill, presumably because they can never be used as one handers. Complicated.

As for encumberance: no, it doesn't affect you on horseback, nor does it seem to affect your horse, but if your mount is cut down you can quickly be surrounded and killed if you are too encumbered (and thereby too slow). Speed is the key! And possibly a joint and a bottle of vodka, depending how you want the evening to go.

I find a happy medium is best, even if you plan on being mounted almost all the time. Eventually your horse will get chopped out from under you. It's very difficult to survive a handfull of knights galloping around you, as you slowly walk back and forth, hoping to land a sword shot.

I think my light armor is responsible for keeping me alive much of the time.

another thing I was curious about. When, for example, I assist one of the parties in a battle, what determines who goes into the battle? With a maximum battle size of 40, im assuming each team gets 20 men, but when you have 2 parties both containing well over 20 men forming one team, who goes into battle first? Is it 10 men from one party and 10 from the other or something?

Actually I'm full of ****. I just checked it out and using a bastard with no shield on horseback uses the two-handed skill. Possibly doing more damage and being slower to swing. Bizzare.

It depends on the advantage, shown before the combat starts. At a neutral (0) advantage, then both teams will have equal amounts (so 20 from each side).

If you have a negative advantage, then the enemy will have slightly more troops on the field than your side. If the advantage is positive, then you will get more men on the field than they do. Advantage is based on the size of your party compared to the enemy, and is also affected by the tactics skill.

:?:
A Bastard wielded twohanded is faster than when onehanded... Is that not so on horseback?

Hard to tell: the character I was experimenting with has a much higher 1-h skill than he has 2-h, so it's going to be biased no matter what.

Still, seems strange that putting away your shield suddenly means you're (technically) wielding the sword in a 2 handed style. I can't see why it would change much at all tbh.
