Sadly no, you can't use your saved game in this case, but there may be a workaround.

1. First, create a new troop type.

What you should do is basically to copy all Sword Sister lines in troops.txt and paste them at the bottom of the file and then using the troop editor name the new troop as, say "Elite Sword Sister".

2. Again, using the troop editor, edit their properperties & give them lances etc. and in "guarantee" section make sure "helmet" is checked.

3. Also make sure that regular Sword Sisters upgrade to "Elite Sword Sisters".

Doing these will let you upgrade regular sword sisters to Elite Sword Sisters that have all the equipment you wanted.

"Elite Sword Sisters" may appear naked at first in party window, right after you upgraded them, :twisted:, but that gets fixed after you talk to them once.

This method is something you can use with your saved games.

funny, because I started doind exactly what you wrote before reading your post :smile: I figured modding Sword Sister would be like cheating so Ill create another level for her called Sword Sistar :razz:

hmm Ih I can mod current sword sister and add upgrade patch then in theory I should be able to mod camp defenders too, will check it now


Edit: ah so thats how it works, it polls data from the txt files during unit creation and then saves them in save files, got it, created whole new family of woman fighters :smile: third level is basically a forrest bandit meets Robin Hood :razz: Peasant Women wont be useless now.
 
Was just thinking. Last 3 battles in a row two of my Swadian Knights spawned with swords and third one with some Lance, that would suggest game keeps track of every single soldiers equipment. Would be cool to gain access to individual units.

I just knocked up a quick mod, more a proof of theory than anything.  My objective was to create an army where all my elite troops were wearing my uniform, ie had tabards with my banner on it.

So I made a second set of units for each elite unit type that I could choose as an upgrade option.  So for the Nords I had Huscarls, and "Huscarl Regulars" that were the same except that they wore the Heraldric Mail. 

Then I remembered this post and played around with the conversations until I figured out how to make the same change as is described in this post.

So in the end all my regular troops had pre-defined armor and no weapons, so when you upgrade to them you have to buy them some gear before they are useful.  All I want to do now is make their weekly cost a bit higher than normal to offset the "cheat" of being able to outfitt all your troops with nasty gear.

I can't say how much I enjoy having all the lads charging accross the battle field behind me in full matching kit :smile:  And my troop of Swadian knights with Poleaxes lay a carpet of Rhodocks in their path every time we go raiding :smile:

Thanks for the heads up, i was aware of equipment changes when upgrading troops (also not all troops have the equipment that was given) this is because of thier equipment pool, i havent delved much deeper on the issue for a quite a while as been playing other games (god help me for being truthful :p lol) so any1 who has worked out how to change the equipment pool of troops is welcome to pitch in with all due credit.

As stated, or at least hinted in one of the previous pages, you may strip all the equipment in a troop's item pool and give him only the equipment you want. However, if you want to create a new item pool from scratch by using this tweak, you won't be able to do that for certain items and for certain troops. In that case, it is best to use the module system or something like Troop Editor etc.
 
What about the random equipment?
For example: Without mods, the use of helmets or things like those are randomly chosen even (between a list) so they don't look all the same, even if they are the same type of troops.
What about with this modification? They will all look the same ? Or is there any random thing too?
